お正月の２日と３日に行われた箱根駅伝を見ましたか？　
青山学院大学が優勝しました。青山学院のアンカーは「山の神」と呼ばれている神野大地 選手でした。

「アンカー」は英語から来た言葉です。“Anchor” です。
“Anchor”は船の錨です。駅伝の最終競技者は「アンカー」と呼ばれている事は非情に興味深い事です。なぜなら、船の錨は車のブレーキに似ているからです。船の速度を落とすものです。また、嵐の時に船が波に流されない様に船を固定するものです。

聖書に「錨」は５回しか出ません。その中の４回は使徒の働き27章にあります。
使徒パウロが乗っていた船が暴風に激しく翻弄されていた時、船が暗礁に乗り上げないために水夫達は、錨を投げ下ろしました。

「錨」が入っているもう一つの箇所は全てのクリスチャンを強く励ます箇所です。

「この望みは、私たちのたましいのために、安全で確かな錨の役を果たします。」ヘブル人への手紙6:19

クリスチャンの魂の錨になる望みは何ですか。ヘブル人への手紙6:18節によると、それは変える事の出来ない２つの事柄です。その変える事のできない２つの事柄とは何でしょうか。
神様の約束（ヘブル人への手紙6:5節）と神様の誓い（ヘブル人への手紙6:17節）です。

聖書の中で神様は多くの誓いをたてました。また多くの約束をしました。
18節によると、神様は偽る事ができませんから、神様は絶対にその誓いを果たして、その約束を守って下さいます。
神様の誓いと約束、そして今なお続いている望みもクリスチャンの魂の確かな錨となります。
私達は確信を持って、勝利を期待しながら走り続ける事が出来ます。

　嵐をよそにいよよ深く　御恵みの手に安ろう
　錨を主に下ろしし今　風も波もいかで恐れん

ANCHOR   

Did you watch the Hakone Ekiden that took place on January 2nd and 3rd ? Aoyama Gakuin University won. The anchor of Aoyama Gakuin was Daiichi Kamino who is called “the god of the mountain”.

The fact that the last runner in the Ekiden is called an “anchor” is quite interesting because the anchor of a ship is like the brake of a car. The anchor slows the speed of the ship. Also, the anchor prevents the ship from drifting in the waves when there is a storm.

The word “anchor” appears in the Bible five times. Four of those passages are in chapter 27 of Acts. When the ship on which Paul was riding was tossed by the tempest, the sailors cast out the anchors so the ship would not wreck on the rocks.

The other passage in which the word “anchor” appears is a passage that greatly encourages the Christian.
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.
What is this hope that is the anchor of the soul of the Christian? According to verse 18, that hope is two things that cannot change. What are those two things that cannot change? They are God’s promise (verse 15) and God’s oath (verse 17).

In the Bible God has sworn many oaths and made many promises. According to Hebrews 6:18, God cannot lie, so God will absolutely fulfill His oaths and keep His promises.

When this hope that is based on the oaths and promises of God becomes the anchor of the soul of the Christian, he can continue to run with assurance looking forward to the victory.

I’ve fixed my hope in Jesus, blest anchor of my soul;
When trials fierce assail me as storms are gath’ring o’er,
I rest upon His mercy and trust Him more.
I’ve anchored in Jesus, the storms of life I’ll brave,

I’ve anchored in Jesus, for He hath pow’r to save,
I’ve anchored to the Rock of Ages.
