日本に住むようになって、私と妻はギョウザがとても好きになりました。妻は、すぐに餃子の作り方を習得しました。しかし妻が作ったギョウザは、店で食べるギョウザと違いました。
肉が沢山入っている餃子でした。私はよく妻のおいしいギョウザを食べました。

実は、妻が最後に作ってくれた料理はギョウザでした。
今でも私は、時々ギョウザを食べます。その時、妻と手作りのおいしいギョウザを思い出します。
今日、午後に聖餐式が行われます。聖餐式はとも呼ばれます。十字架につけられた日の前夜にキリストは弟子達と共に食事をしました
それから、みなが食事をしているとき、イエスはパンを取り、祝福して後、これを裂き、彼らに与えて言われた。
「取りなさい。これはわたしのからだです。」 また、杯を取り、感謝をささげて後、彼らに与えられた。彼らはみなその杯から飲んだ。 イエスは彼らに言われた。「これはわたしの契約の血です。多くの人のために流されるものです。」マルコの福音書14:22～24

有名な画家ダビンチは“The Last Supper（最後の晩餐）”の絵を通してこの場面を見事に描きました。
この時から始まった聖餐式の目的は、何でしょうか？　
それはⅠコリント人への手紙の11:23～26に書いてあります。
ここでパウロはキリストの言葉を引用しています。キリスト御自身の言葉によると、
「聖餐式はキリストを覚えるためです。特に、キリストの死を告げ知らせるためです。」
(26節)

私は、ギョウザを食べる度に、妻との最後の食事を思い出します。それと同じように、今日、私達が聖餐式のパンと葡萄酒をいただく時に、キリストが私達を救うために払ってくださった大きな犠牲を思い出しましょう。私達の救いのために傷つけられたイエスの体と私達の罪深い心を清めるために流されたキリストの尊い血を思い出しましょう。

「ご承知のように、あなたがたが先祖から伝わったむなしい生き方から贖い出されたのは、銀や金のような朽ちる物にはよらず、 傷もなく汚れもない小羊のようなキリストの、尊い血によったのです。」Ⅰペテロの手紙1:18～19

     

THE LAST MEAL　

When my wife and I came to Japan, both of us came to like gyouza very much, so my wife quickly learned how to make gyouza. However, the gyouza my wife made was different from the gyouza that you buy in stores. It was gyouza filled with lots of meat. I often ate my wife’s delicious gyouza. In fact, the last meal my wife fixed for me was gyouza. Even now I sometimes eat gyouza, and every time I eat it, I remember my wife and her delicious gyouza.

This afternoon there will be Communion. Communion is also called “The Lord’s Supper.” The night before He was crucified, Christ had supper with His disciples.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
(Mark 14:22-24)

The famous artist, Da Vinci, brilliantly depicted this scene in his painting “The Last Supper”.

What is the purpose of the Communion service that began at that time? It is written in First Corinthians 11:23-26. Here Paul is quoting the words of Christ. According to His own words, the purpose of the Lord’s Supper is to remember Christ. Especially it is for the purpose of showing forth the death of Christ. (verse 26)

Whenever I eat gyouza, I remember my last meal with my wife. In the same way, when we partake of the bread and juice of the Communion service, let’s remember the great sacrifice that Christ paid in order to save us. Let’s remember His body that was wounded for our salvation and the precious blood that He shed to cleanse our sinful hearts.

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
(First Peter 1:18-19)
