なに～！ 赤がＯＮ？ 青がＯＦＦ？

韓国で行われたBBFIの全国大会に参加した時、私は通訳を一回頼まれました。
機械の前に座った時、赤いボタンと青いボタンを見て、赤いボタンはOFFで、青いボタンがONだと思い込んだ私は、通訳する時、青いボタンを押して通訳をしました。 讃美の間に、赤いボタン押して、隣に座っている人と話しに夢中になっていました。
しかし、赤いボタンはONで、青いボタンはOFFだったので、数十人の日本人には私の通訳を聞く事が出来なかったのです。その間、隣に座っている人との会話が筒抜けでした。
後でみんなに笑らわれました。そして答えました。
「誰でも、赤がOFFで、緑がONだと思うよ。まさか逆だとは想像もしなかったよ！」

聖書を読む時、私の気持ちは、赤がONで、緑がOFFであると理解した時の気持ちと同じようになります。
聖書の御言葉を読んでいて「何？　違うでしょう。逆でしょう！」と思う時があります。

例えば、マタイの福音書16:25でキリストは言われました。
「いのちを救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのためにいのちを失う者は、それを見いだすのです。」
普通、私達は命を救うために一生懸命になりますが、キリストは命を見出す方法、それを神様のために失なう事だと言われました。

Ⅱコリント人への手紙12:10にもう一つの例があります。
「私が弱いときにこそ、私は強いからです。」
この御言葉を読む度に、私は「何？ 弱い時にこそ強い？ 違うでしょう！」と言いたくなるのは私だけでしょうか？　
やはり私達は自分が弱いと分かっている時、自分の力ではなく、神様の力に頼るから強いです。

他にもあります。
神様に自分を高くして戴きたい人は自分を低くしなければなりません。（ヤコブの手紙4:10）

受けたいと思う人は与えなければなりません。
（ルカの福音書6:38)

罪から解放されたい人は神様の奴隷にならなければなりません。（ローマ6:18）

多くの実を結びたい人は死ななければなりません。
（ヨハネ12:24)

キリストの素晴らしさを知りたい人は自分にとって益であるものを損だと思って捨てなければなりません。
（ピリピ3:7-8）

　　　　

WHAT? RED IS ON? GREEN IS OFF?　

When I attended the BBFI Global Meeting that was held in Seoul, one night I was asked to translate. When I sat before the machine, I saw a red button and a green button, so I thought, “The red button is OFF, and the green button is ON.” When it came time for me to translate, I pushed the green button. During the singing, I pushed the red button and talked with the person sitting beside me.

However, what I didn’t know was that the red button was ON and the green button was OFF. Over 40 Japanese couldn’t hear my translation, but all of them heard my conversation with the person next to me. Later they all laughed at me, but I replied, “Anyone would think that the red button was OFF and the green button was ON. I never imagined that it was the reverse.”

When I read the Bible, sometimes my feeling is the same feeling at the time when I realized that the red button was ON and the green button was OFF. I read the words in the Bible and think, “What? That’s not right. It’s the reverse.” For example, In Matthew 16:25 Christ said, For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Usually we strive to save our life, but Christ said that the person who will find his life is the person who loses it for the sake of God.

There’s another example in Second Corinthians 12:10.
For when I am weak, then I am strong. Every time I read this passage, I want to say, “What? You’re strong when you’re weak? That’s not right.” However, when we realize that we are weak, we depend not on our own power but on God’s power, so we are strong.

There are more.
The Christian who wants God to lift him up must make himself low. (James 4:10)

The person who wants to receive must give. (Luke 6:38)

The person who wants to be free must become God’s servant. The person who wants to bear much fruit must die. (John 12:14)

The person who wants to know the wonderfulness of Christ must consider what is gain to him loss and throw it away. (Philippians 3:7-8)
