先日、私はタバサの家を出てメリーの家に向かって行きました。
車でシャーロットからローリーまで３時間の旅です。
シャーロットを出てから、すぐに雨が降り出し、それから、どしゃ降りとなりました。
雨はとてもひどく、隣の車からのとばしりも当たり、私には走行車線も前方の車もほとんど見にくく、とても危険な状態になっていました。
この高速道路の制限速度は70mph（114㎞）です。しかし、あまりにも危険な状態だったので、速度を50mph（80㎞）に落とし、前方との車間距離をとり、速度の遅い方のレーンを走行しました。
メリーの家に着くまでに、私は３件の交通事故を見ました。予定よりも１時間も遅くなりましたが、娘の家まで無事到着しました。
私達人間は人生の大雨の時には慌てるし、そしてパニック状態になります。
自分の知識と力によって問題を解決しようとする彼らは混乱しながら走り回ります。ほとんどの場合、悪い結果となります。
聖書には、この事実を教える例がたくさんあります。

モーセ（出エジプト記２章）
ナアマン将軍（Ⅱ列王記5章）
ヨシヤ（Ⅱ歴代誌35章）
ダビデ（詩篇31篇）

聖書によると「急ぎ足の者はつまずく。」箴言19:2b　
また、箴言21:5b に
「すべてあわてる者は欠損を招くだけだ。」と書いてあります。

今あなたの生活は大雨の危険な状態ですか？　
進むべき道が見えなくなっていませんか？　
大雨の危険な状態の中で運転していた私と同じ様に、慌てないで、落ち着いて、主の導きを待ちながらゆっくり進んで下さい。
そうすれば、あなたも、大雨がやむまで安全に進む事ができます。

「主はいつくしみ深い。主を待ち望む者、主を求めるたましいに。主の救いを黙って待つのは良い。」 哀歌3:25-26

　　　　

DANGEROUS DRIVE　

Yesterday (19th) I left Tabitha’s home in Charlotte and headed for Merri’s home in Raleigh. It is usually a 3-hour drive. Soon after I left Charlotte it began to rain. Later it became a downpour. Because of the heavy rain and the spray from the tires of other cars, I could not see the white lines that divide the lanes or the car in front of me. It was a dangerous situation.

The speed limit in that area is 70 mph (114 kph), but it was such a dangerous situation that I decided to lower my speed to 50 mph (80 kph), leave quite a distance between my car and the car in front of me, and drive in the slowest lane. On the way to Merri’s home I saw three traffic accidents. The drive took an hour longer than usual, but I was able to arrive safely at my daughter’s home.

When a storm comes, in many people there is the tendency to act hastily. They run around in confusion trying to solve the problem with their own knowledge and strength. Almost every time, the result is a bad result. There are many examples in the Bible that show this fact.

Moses (Exodus 2)

David (Psalm 31)

According to the Bible,
He that is hasty with his feet shall stumble.
(Proverbs 19:2b)

Also, Proverbs 21:5b says,
Those who hurry end up with loss.

Are you walking in a downpour right now? Are you unable to see the way you should walk? Just as I did when I was driving in the downpour, calm yourself and go slowly as you wait for God’s leadership. If you do so, you will be able to go forward safely.

The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
(Lamentations 3:25-26)
