10年後に届いた手紙

2004年1月10日当時、バスガイドの仕事をしていた押野千恵さんは岩手県大槌町に住んでいる両親に手紙を書きました。
押野さんはその手紙を明治村博物館に預けて、10年後に配達するように依頼しました。

※愛知県明治村では、10年後の未来に手紙を出すことができるシステム。それは「はあとふるレター」です。

それから後に、押野さんは郷里に戻って岩手県大槌町役場の臨時職員となりました。
2011年3月11日に彼女は、東日本大震災で津波に流された役場で仕事をしていました。彼女は、いまだに行方不明です。

3年後、2014年1月12日に彼女が10年前に書いた手紙は、両親の家に届きました。その手紙の内容は仕事や結婚の事でした。
そして、10年後の手紙の一部にはこう書いてありました。
「お父さん、お母さん、私がこうしていられるのは全てあなた方のおかげです。これから私はあなた方のお世話をします」

押野さんの手紙の事を読んだ時、私は自分の経験を思い出しました。2001年の9月に私は北海道の教会の特別伝道集会の奉仕に行っていました。そこにいる間、妻から緊急の電話がありました。
「今日、あなたのお母さんが突然、天に召されました。」
母が天国に行く前に感謝を伝える事が出来なかった私は泣きました。

聖書に書いてある通りに明日、何が起こるか分かりません。
今日、あなたもあなたの両親もまだ生きている間に何かの方法で両親に感謝を伝えましょう。

「あなたを生んだ父の言うことを聞け。あなたの年老いた母をさげすんではならない。」箴言23:22

「あなたの父と母を喜ばせ、

THE LETTER THAT ARRIVED
　　　10 YEARS LATER　　　　　

On January 10, 2004, Chie Oshino, who was working as a bus guide in Aichi Prefecture, wrote a letter to her parents living in Otsuchi town in Iwate Prefecture. She left the letter in care of the Meiji-Mura Museum and asked that it be delivered 10 years later.

Later she moved back to Otsuchi and worked at the town office. She was working there on March 11, 2011 when the building was swept away by a tidal wave. She is still missing to this day.

Three years later, on January 12, 2014 the letter that she wrote 10 years earlier arrived at the home of her parents. The content of the letter was her work and marriage. These words were in the letter: “I owe a lot to you, dad and mom, so I will take care of the two of you from now on.” How precious that letter must be to Mr. and Mrs. Oshino who lost their daughter.

When I read the story of the letter of Miss Oshino, I remembered my own experience. In September of 2001 I went to preach at a church in Hokkaido. While I was there, my wife called and said, “Today your mother suddenly went home to be with the Lord.” I wept because I did not have the opportunity to thank my mother before she went to heaven.

Just as it is written in the Bible, we do not know what will happen tomorrow, so today while we and our parents are still alive, let’s thank them in some way.

Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old. (Proverbs 23:22)

Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. (Proverbs 23: 25)
