私が先日、静岡県の教会に講師として招かれて、そこの牧師が日本平に連れて行ってくださいました。
私達は富士山を眺めながら、お昼の食事をしました。レストランのメニューに「桜エビラーメン」とあったので、それを注文しました。ラーメンも桜エビもとてもおいしかったです。
(エビの色が桜色なので、桜エビと呼ばれています。)

そして牧師は、この話をしてくださいました。 日本で一番深い湾は駿河湾です。ある時、駿河湾で漁をしていた漁師は間違って網を通常より深く降ろしました。その時、捕った物が桜エビでした。

その話を聞いた時、ルカの福音書5章に書いてある出来事を思い出しました。

「群衆がイエスに押し迫るようにして神のことばを聞いたとき、イエスはゲネサレ湖の岸べに立っておられたが、 岸べに小舟が二そうあるのをご覧になった。漁師たちは、その舟から降りて網を洗っていた。 イエスは、そのうちの一つの、シモンの持ち舟に乗り、陸から少し漕ぎ出すように頼まれた。そしてイエスはすわって、舟から群衆を教えられた。 話が終わると、シモンに、「深みに漕ぎ出して、網をおろして魚をとりなさい」と言われた。 するとシモンが答えて言った。「先生。私たちは、夜通し働きましたが、何一つとれませんでした。でもおことばどおり、網をおろしてみましょう。」 そして、そのとおりにすると、たくさんの魚が入り、網は破れそうになった。」 ルカの福音書5:1-6

「深みに漕ぎ出しなさい。」私は、全てのクリスチャンに同じ事をお勧めします。今、信仰の浅い所を歩んでいる方々、主の導きに従ってもっと深い所に行って見ましょう。 たとえば、バプテスマや教会員になる事や献身まで行きましょう。 神様の最もすばらしい祝福は深い所にあります。

CHERRY BLOSSOM SHRIMP　

When I went to the special meeting at the Shimizu Bible Baptist Church, Pastor Michishita took me to Nihondaira. We ate lunch looking at Mt. Fuji. There was “cherry blossom shrimp ramen” on the restaurant menu, so I ordered it. Both the ramen and the shrimp were delicious.
(The shrimp is the color of the cherry blossom, so it is called “cherry blossom shrimp.”)

Pastor Michishita told me this story. The deepest bay in Japan is Suruga Bay. One day a fisherman fishing in Suruga Bay mistakenly let his net down deeper than usual. The fish that he caught that day was the cherry blossom shrimp.

When I heard this story, I immediately remembered the event recorded in chapter 5 of Luke.
So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon,"Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net." And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.

Launch out into the deep. This is what I exhort to all Christians. You that are wading in the shallow area of faith, let’s obey the leadership of the Lord and go out deeper. For example, let’s go out as far as baptism or church membership or surrender for full-time ministry. The most wonderful blessings of the Lord are in the deep places.
