「桐生祥秀とは誰か？」と聞かれたら答える事ができますか。
彼は、日本人史上初の100mを10秒切った日本人です。
今年の9月9日に桐生は100mを9.98秒で走りました。
また100mの世界新記録をつくった選手を知っていますか。
ジャマイカのウサイン・ボルトです。
2009年の世界選手権大会で彼は100mを9.58秒で走りました。
ボルトは今までの最も優秀な選手の一人です。
彼は過去３回のオリンピック(北京・ロンドン・リオ）で100mと200mと4x100mの金メダルを獲得しました。
今年ボルトは、引退しました。

「早く走る秘訣は何ですか？」と聞かれた時、彼は答えました。
「自分を追い込む努力をする事です。」

クリスチャンが走る競走について同じ事が言えます。

ヘブル人への手紙12:1でパウロは書きました。
「私たちも、いっさいの重荷とまつわりつく罪とを捨てて、私たちの前に置かれている競走を忍耐をもって走り続けようではありませんか。」

また、Ⅰコリント人への手紙でパウロは書きました。
「競技場で走る人たちは、みな走っても、賞を受けるのはただひとりだ、ということを知っているでしょう。ですから、あなたがたも、賞を受けられるように走りなさい。 また闘技をする者は、あらゆることについて自制します。彼らは朽ちる冠を受けるためにそうするのですが、私たちは朽ちない冠を受けるためにそうするのです。 ですから、私は自分のからだを打ちたたいて従わせます。それは、私がほかの人に宣べ伝えておきながら、自分自身が失格者になるようなことのないためです。」 Ⅰコリント人への手紙9:24-25, 27

主に喜ばれる競走をしたいクリスチャンの最大の敵は悪魔ではありません。自分自身です。自分を追い込むために努力するクリスチャンは、勝利を得るクリスチャンです。

　　　　

THE SECRET TO RUNNING FAST　

If you were asked, “Who is Yoshide Kiryu,” could you answer.? Kiryu is the first Japanese to run 100 meters in less than 10 seconds. On September 9, he ran 100 meters in 9.98 seconds.

Do you know who holds the world record for the 100-meter dash? It is Usain Bolt of Jamaica. In the 2009 World Championships, he ran 100 meters in 9.58 seconds.

Bolt is one of the most gifted athletes of all time. He won gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4/100m races in three Olympics (Beijing. London, Rio). Bolt retired this year. When he was asked,
“What is the secret of running fast?” he replied,
“It is making an effort to overcome yourself.”

The same thing can be said of the Christian’s race. In Hebrews 12:1 Paul wrote, Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

In chapter 9 of First Corinthians he wrote, Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore, I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (9:24-25, 27)

The greatest enemy of the Christian who wants to run a race that is pleasing to the Lord is not the devil. It is the Christian himself. The Christian who makes an effort to overcome himself is the Christian who will win the victory.
