ラジコンのトラック

昨年12月、鹿児島の息子の所に行った時、孫のノアにクリスマスプレゼントをしました。それはラジコンのトラックでした。私達は近くの公園に行って１時間位そのトラックで遊びました。孫は、そのトラックを右左、前後に走行させました。その公園には小高い丘があり、孫は何回もトラックをその丘を登らせたりして遊びました。

ある神学者は、神様と人間の関係は子供とラジコンのトラックとの関係に似ていると言っています。すなわち、主権者である神様は私達のすべての行動を支配しておられます。言いかえれば人間は神様に支配されているロボットの様なものです。もし、この教えが真実であれば大変な結論になります。つまり私達は、この世にある全ての悪を神様の声にする事ができます。

確かに聖書は神様の主権を教えています。しかし聖書は人間の自由意志(free will) も教えています。人間をお創りになった時、神様は人間に善と悪を選ぶ意志を与えました。

エデンの園で、エバは、その自由意志を用いて悪を選びました。 彼女は食べては行けない実を食べてしまいました。同じ様に現在、悪を行なっている人は、みんな自分の意志でそうしています。

神様が望んでおられる事は、私達が無理矢理に善を行う事ではなく自分の意志を持って善を行う事です。
「私は、きょう、あなたがたに対して天と地とを、証人に立てる。私は、いのちと死、祝福とのろいを、あなたの前に置く。あなたはいのちを選びなさい。あなたもあなたの子孫も生き、 あなたの神、主を愛し、御声に聞き従い、主にすがるためだ。」
申命記30:19～20a

ヨシュア記24:15でヨシュアはイスラエル人に言いました。
「もしも主に仕えることがあなたがたの気に入らないなら、川の向こうにいたあなたがたの先祖たちが仕えた神々でも、今あなたがたが住んでいる地のエモリ人の神々でも、あなたがたが仕えようと思うものを、どれでも、きょう選ぶがよい。私と私の家とは、主に仕える。」

THE RADIO-CONTROLLED TRUCK　

When I went to Kagoshima in December, I gave my grandson, Noah, a Christmas present. It was a radio-controlled truck. We went to a nearby park and played with the truck for about an hour. Noah made the truck go to the left and to the right, forward and backward. There is a hill in the park, so he made the truck climb the hill several times.

Some theologians think that the relationship of God and man resembles the relationship of Noah and his radio-controlled truck. In other words, the sovereign God controls all our actions. Man is like a robot controlled by God. If this teaching is true, the conclusion is terrible, for it makes God the cause of all the evil in the world.

Certainly, the Bible teaches the sovereignty of God. However, the Bible also teaches the free will of man. When God created man, He gave him a will to choose good and evil.

In the garden of Eden, Eve exercised her free will and chose evil. She ate the forbidden fruit. Likewise, at the present time, people who do evil do it with their free will.

What God desires is not that we do good because we have no choice but rather that we do good through our own will.
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him.
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20a)

In Joshua 24:15, Joshua said to the people of Israel,
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Let us make the same choice.
