体の中で最も美しいのは、どの部位だと思いますか?。
多くの人は顔を選ぶでしょう。
他の人は目を選ぶかも知れません。
聖書に体の一つの部位が美しいと書いています。これを聞くと皆さんは驚くかも知れませんが、聖書によると、体の最も美しい部位は足(feet)です。

ローマ人への手紙10:15bに
次のように書かれているとおりです。
「良いことの知らせを伝える人々の足は、なんとりっぱでしょう。」と書いてあります。
この箇所はイザヤ書52:7の引用です。
良い知らせを伝える者の足は山々の上にあって、なんと美しいことよ。平和を告げ知らせ、幸いな良い知らせを伝え、救いを告げ知らせ、「あなたの神が王となる。」とシオンに言う者の足は。

ローマ人への手紙に「りっぱ」と書いてありますが、イザヤ書に「美しい」と書いてあります。
英語の聖書に、イザヤ書52:7にもローマ人への手紙にも“beautiful”と書いてあります。

◆家族や友達にキリストの事を伝えに行くクリスチャンの足は美しい足です。

◆チラシ配布をするクリスチャンの足は美しい足です。

◆困っている兄弟や姉妹を助けに行くクリスチャンの足は美しい足です。

◆日曜日に教会で神様に仕えに行くクリスチャンの足は美しい足です。

◆教会がない日本の町で開拓伝道をする伝道師の足は美しい足です。

◆福音を聞いた事のない外国の人々に福音を伝に行く宣教師の足は美しい足です。

　　　 

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE BODY 

What part of the body do you think is the most beautiful part? Many people will choose the face. Other people may choose the eyes.

The Bible calls only one part of the body “beautiful.” When you hear this, you may be surprised, but according to the Bible, the most beautiful part of the body is the feet.

In Romans 10:15b it is written,
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
This passage is a quote from Isaiah 52:7.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation.

◆The feet of Christians who go to tell their family and friends about Christ are beautiful feet.

◆The feet of Christians who pass out tracts and flyers are beautiful feet.

◆The feet of Christians who go to help a brother or sister in need are beautiful feet.

◆The feet of Christians who go to church on Sunday to serve the Lord are beautiful feet

◆The feet of evangelists who do pioneer evangelism in the towns of Japan where there are no churches are beautiful feet.

◆The feet of missionaries who go to preach the gospel to people in foreign countries who have never heard the gospel are beautiful feet.

日曜日に一人の姉妹が持寄りの食事にスイカを持って来てくれました。
姉妹達はそのスイカを小さく切って、各テーブルに切ったスイカを２皿ずつ置きました。食事の後、皆さんの皿に食べた後のスイカの皮が2～3個ありましたが、一人の兄弟の皿には沢山のスイカの皮が山積みでした。
彼の皿を見た私は大笑いをしました。

同時に、彼が食べたスイカの皮の数と他の教会員が食べたスイカの皮の数は２種類の信仰生活を表わしていると思いました。スイカは、まだ沢山残っていました。他の教会員も沢山スイカを食べる事ができたのに、彼等はわずかなスイカで満足しました。

同じように、全てのクリスチャンはあふれる祝福を主から受ける事ができるのに私たちは、わずかな祝福で満足します。

聖書によると神様は私たちを豊に祝福できるお方です。
エペソ人への手紙3:20に書いてあります。
神様は「私たちの願うところ、思うところのすべてを越えて豊かに施すことのできる方」です。

また、Ⅱコリント人への手紙9:8によると
「神は、あなたがたを、常にすべてのことに満ち足りて、すべての良いわざにあふれる者とするために、あらゆる恵みをあふれるばかり与えることのできる方です。」

神様は、私たちの願うところ、思うところの全てを越えて私たちを祝福する事を望んでおられます。主は、私たちに祝福と喜びと平安と愛が満ちあふれる信仰生活を望んでおられます。
ヨハネの福音書15:11でイエス様は言われました。
「わたしがこれらのことをあなたがたに話したのは、わたしの喜びがあなたがたのうちにあり、あなたがたの喜びが満たされるためです。」

私たちは、わずかな祝福とわずかな喜びとわずかな愛とわずかな平安で満足しないで、信仰による祈りを通して豊な信仰生活を目指しましょう。

　　　 

AN ABUNDANT FAITH-LIFE 

Last Sunday one of the ladies brought a watermelon to our potluck meal.
The ladies cut it into small pieces and put two plates of watermelon on each table.
After the meal, almost everyone had just 2-3 pieces of watermelon rind on their plate, but the plate of one man was filled with watermelon rinds.

When I saw his plate, I laughed, but at the same time, I thought that the number of watermelon rinds on his plate and the number of watermelon rinds on the plate of everyone else resembled two different types of faith-life.
There was still some watermelon left, so everyone could have eaten a lot, but they were satisfied with just a little.

In the same way, although all Christians can receive an abundance of blessings from the Lord, they are satisfied with just a few blessings. According to the Bible, God is able to bless us abundantly. Ephesians 3:20 says that
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Also, in Second Corinthians 9:8 it is written,
God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

God desires to bless us abundantly above all that we ask or think.
God desires that we live a faith-life that is overflowing with blessings and joy and peace and grace.
In John 15:11 Jesus said,
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Let’s not be satisfied with just a little bit of blessing and a little bit of joy and a little bit of peace and a little bit of grace.
Through believing prayer, let’s aim for an abundant faith-life.

教会の電話が使用出来なくなりました。
電話を受信する事も送信する事も出来なくなり、私たちはNTTに来てもらいました。
NTTの係員はいろいろと調べて「NTTのモデムが悪い」と判断してモデムを交換して帰って行きました。

私たちは、問題が解決されたと思っっていたけど電話は、また通じなくなり、NTTにもう一度来てもらいました。今度NTTの係員は「故障の原因は、この電話機ですね」と言いました。
私たちは問題がNTTの機械にあると思い込んでいたけど、結局原因は教会の電話の受信機にありました。私たちは新しい電話機を買わなければなりませんでした。

時々クリスチャンが祈ると、同じような事がおこります。神様が私たちの祈りにすぐ答えて下さらない時、私たちは神様に不平を言います。しかし、ほとんどの場合、私たちの祈りが神様に通じるのは私たち自身に問題があります。

例えば、私たちが主に祈っている事は神様の御心ではないので、主は答えて下さいません。
Ⅰヨハネの手紙5:14に
「何事でも神のみこころにかなう願いをするなら、神はその願いを聞いてくださるということ、これこそ神に対する私たちの確信です。」と書いてあります。
私たちの祈りが神様に通じないもう一つの理由は私たちが祈りの答えを受ける前に祈りをやめてしまうからです。

コロサイ人への手紙4:2に
「目をさまして、感謝をもって、たゆみなく祈りなさい」と書いてあります。

私たちの祈りが主に通じない最も大きいな問題は私たちの不信仰です。
「あなたがたの中に知恵の欠けた人がいるなら、その人は、だれにでも惜しげなく、とがめることなくお与えになる神に願いなさい。そうすればきっと与えられます。 ただし、少しも疑わずに、信じて願いなさい。」
ヤコブの手紙１:５-６a

　　　 

WHEN YOU CAN’T GET THROUGH　

The church telephone was acting strange. We could not make calls or receive calls, so we had NTT come. The NTT man checked everything and decided that the problem was in the modem, so he changed the modem.

We thought that the problem was solved, but soon the telephone started acting strange again, so we had NTT come one more time. This time the NTT man said, “The problem is your phone.” We thought the problem was in the NTT equipment, but the problem was in the church phone. We had to buy a new phone.

Sometimes, when Christians pray, a similar thing takes place. When God does not answer our prayer right away, we complain to Him. However, in most cases, the reason why our prayers do not get through is in ourselves.

For example, that for which we are praying may not be the will of God. In First John 5:14 it is written,
This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.

Another reason our prayer does not get through to God is because we stop praying. In Colossians 4:2 it is written,
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.

Probably the biggest reason our prayer does not get through to God is our lack of faith.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
(James 1:5-6a)

7月27日の英語の新聞に私をとても悲しくさせる記事がありました。日本・アメリカ・中国・韓国で行われたアンケートの結果によると、小学生と中学生がいる日本の家庭の60%は一緒にいる時ほとんど携帯やスマートフォンを使っています。4ヶ国の中で、日本が一番高いパーセントで、アメリカの2倍でした。

日本の小学生の44%・中学生の37%は、子供が親に話そうとする時「時間がない」と答えるそうです。
何と言う悲しい事でしょうか！
親と子供が話す時間がない家族とは哀れな家庭です。
子供に品物やお小遣いを与えるが、子供と話す時間がありません！　親が子供に対する最も大切な事は時間です。

私は、読者の親達に子供と共に時間を過ごす事をお勧めします。
皆さんは1日の仕事を終えて疲れていると理解しています。
努力して子供と時間を過ごしてください。
◆一緒に本を読んであげてください。
◆一緒にゲームをしてあげてください。
◆特に子供の話を聞いてあげてください。
◆子供に何かの問題があれば、一緒に祈ってください。

100年前の親達は自分の時間の54%を子供と一緒に過ごしたそうです。
今は18%です。 統計によると現在、普通のお父さんが1日に子供と過ごす時間は10分だけだそうです。
もちろん聖書に「子供と時間を過ごしなさい」という箇所はありませんが、箴言22:6に
「若者をその行く道にふさわしく教育せよ」と書いてあります。

エペソ人への手紙6:4に
「父たちよ。あなたがたも、子どもをおこらせてはいけません。かえって、主の教育と訓戒によって育てなさい。」と書いてあります。

この２つの勧めに従うために、親達は子供と時間を過ごして、子供の話を聞かなければなりません。

　　　 

“I DON’T HAVE TIME.” 

In the July 27th edition of the English newspaper there was an article that saddened me greatly. According to a survey conducted in Japan, the United States, China, and Korea, in 60% of the homes in Japan where there are elementary school children and middle school children, even when the family is together, they all use cellphones and smart phones. This was the highest percentage among the four nations. It was twice as high as America.

44% of elementary school children and 37% of middle school children in Japan said that when they try to talk to their parents, the parents say, “I don’t have time.” How sad! The home where parents do not have time to talk with their children is a pitiful home. They give their children money and things, but they do not have time to talk with them! The most precious thing that parents can give their children is their time.

I urge the parents of the Kokura church to spend time with their children. I know you are tired after working all day, but please make an effort to spend time with your children. Read books with them. Play games with them. Especially, listen to them. If your children have problems, pray with them.

100 years ago, parents spent 54% of their time with their children. Now it is 18%. According to statistics, the average father spends just 10 minutes a day with his children. Of course, there is no passage in the Bible that says, “Spend time with your children,” but in Proverbs 22:6 the Bible says,
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it,
and in Ephesians 6:4 the Bible says,
Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

In order to follow these instructions, parents must spend time with their children and listen to them.
