故 郷（ふるさと）

先日、町内の敬老祝賀会に行った時、私達全員で日本の唱歌「故郷」を歌いました。

♪兎追いしかの山　　小鮒釣りしかの川
　夢は今もめぐりて　忘れがたき故郷
　如何にいます父母　恙なしや友がき
　雨に風につけても　思い出ずる故郷
　志をはたして　　　いつの日にか帰らん、
　山は青き故郷　　　水は清き故郷♪

この歌を歌いながら、私は自分の故郷を思い出しました。私はバージニア州のロアノークと言う町で生まれました。ロアノークは山に囲まれていて景色の良い人口が10万人位の町です。夏休みに私と友達はよくロアノークの綺麗な川で泳ぎました。

私は17歳の時に故郷を出ました。

もちろん、その町は思い出深い所ですから、アメリカに帰る度に私は、ロアノークに行きます。
しかし、クリスチャンになってから私はアメリカの故郷よりも心の故郷に行く事を喜んでいます。

ヨハネの福音書14:2-3でキリストは言われました。
「あなたがたのために、わたしは場所を備えに行くのです。 わたしが行って、あなたがたに場所を備えたら、また来て、あなたがたをわたしのもとに迎えます。わたしのいる所に、あなたがたをもおらせるためです。」

キリストを信じている全ての人々は
「さらにすぐれた故郷、すなわち天の故郷にあこがれています。」へブル人への手紙11:16

　そこにあらし　　たえてたたず　そこによるもあらじ
　うるわしきは　　わがふるさと　わがしとうくによ
　したしきもの　　さきにゆきて　われをまちてやあらん♪

HOMETOWN 

When I went to the “respect for the elderly” celebration on the 15th, we sang a song entitled “Hometown” (Furusato).

While singing this song, I remembered my hometown. I was born in Roanoke in the state of Virginia. Roanoke, which has a population of about 100,000 people, is a very scenic place surrounded by mountains. During the summer vacation, I often swam with my friends in the clean river in Roanoke.

I left my hometown at the age of 17. Of course, it is a place of many memories for me, so each time I return to America, I go to Roanoke.

However, since I became a Christian, I now look forward to going to the hometown of my heart more than my hometown in America. In John 14:2-3 Christ said,
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Everyone who believes in Christ
now desires a better country, that is, an heavenly country. (Hebrews 11:16)
