クリスチャンのアイデンティティ

最近、私は２つの新しいアイデンティティをもらいました。
ワイエット先生と一緒に病院に行った時、医者は私に聞きました。「あなたは、この方の父さんですか？」

そして、イースター子供会に来た婦人は私に聞きました。
「あなたはクリスティー先生の御主人ですか？」

その時から、私はワイエット先生を「son」と呼んで、クリスティー先生を「wife」と呼んでいます。

英和辞典によると、アイデンティティの意味は身元です。
そうすると、クリスチャンの身元は何でしょうか。
まず、ガラテヤ人への手紙3:26によると、クリスチャンは神様の子供です。
「あなたがたはみな、キリスト・イエスに対する信仰によって、神の子どもです。」　

人がキリストを自分の個人的な救い主として受けいれて信じる時、神様の子供となります。
「この方を受け入れた人々、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、神の子どもとされる特権をお与えになった。」ヨハネの福音書1:12

そう言う理由ですから、祈る時に私達は「天におられるお父様」と祈ります。
また、クリスチャンはキリストとの共同相続人です。
「私たちが神の子どもであることは、御霊ご自身が、私たちの霊とともに、あかししてくださいます。 もし子どもであるなら、相続人でもあります。私たちがキリストと、栄光をともに受けるために苦難をともにしているなら、私たちは神の相続人であり、キリストとの共同相続人であります。」 ローマ人への手紙8:16-17
クリスチャンのアイデンティティは光栄と誇りのあるアイデンティティです。私達は自分がクリスチャンである事を恥だと思ってはいけません。
「あなたはクリスチャンですか？」と聞かれる時に、恥ずかしがらないで、真正面から相手の顔を見て「はい、私はクリスチャンです」と答えましょう。

　　　 

THE CHRISTIAN’S IDENTITY 

Recently I received two new identities. When I went to the hospital with Missionary Mike Wyatt, the doctor asked me, “Are you his father?” And then, one of the ladies who came with her children to the children’s Easter program asked me, “Are you Cristy Wyatt’s husband?” Ever since then, I have been calling Mike “son” and Cristy “wife.”

According to my English-Japanese dictionary, the Japanese word for identity is mimoto which means one’s birth and parentage. If that is so, what is the identity of a Christian? First of all, according to Galatians 3:26, a Christian is the child of God. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

When a person believes in Christ and receives Christ as his personal Savior, he becomes a child of God.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. (John 1:12)
Therefore, when a Christian prays, he prays, “Our Father which art in heaven.”

Also, Christians are joint heirs with Christ.
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
(Romans 8:16-17)

The identity of the Christian is an identity with honor and pride, so we must not think that it is a shame to be a Christian. When we are asked, “Are you a Christian?” without any embarrassment, let’s look the person square in the eye and reply, “Yes, I am a Christian.”
