急ぎすぎた乗客

先日、カトラー先生の家族を空港まで送った時、私は不思議な出来事に遭遇しました。
それは駐車場にあった車です。その車は誰も乗っていないのに、エンジンがかかっていました。
カトラー先生を見送ってから駐車場に戻りました。やはり誰も乗っていない車は、まだエンジンがかかっていました。

私は「その人が搭乗に遅れそうで、とても急いでいたので車のエンジンを止めるのを忘れたのではないか」などと想像しました。車の持主が北九州に戻って乗ろうとする時ガソリンは、すでに無くなっているでしょう。
彼を可哀想に思って私はもう一度ターミナルに戻って、その車の事をインフォメーション係の女性に伝えました。

聖書には、急ぎすぎる事についての警告があります。
箴言19:2に「急ぎ足の者はつまずく」と書いてあります。
そして箴言21:5によると
「すべてあわてる者は欠損を招くだけだ。」

急ぎすぎた乗客と同じように、あわてるクリスチャンは必ず損をします。私達が主の導きを待たずに軽率な判断をする時、その結果は私達が望んでいない結果になる可能性が高いのです。
子供を欲しがっていたサラはあわてたので、その結果は今日まで続いている戦争です。（創世記16章）

車のエンジンをかけたままで旅に出た乗客と同じように急ぎすぎているクリスチャンの皆さん、神様の導きを待たずに主の前を走る事は自分を失望させる事です。
詩篇37:7に書いてある勧めを覚えましょう。
「主の前に静まり、耐え忍んで主を待て。」

　　　 

THE PASSENGER WHO WAS
　　IN TOO MUCH OF A HURRY

When I took Pastor Cutler to the airport on Monday, I noticed something strange.　It was a car in the parking lot. No one was in the car, but the motor was running. After I saw Pastor Cutler off, I returned to the parking lot. There was no one in the car and the motor was still running.

I thought, “He must have been about to miss his plane, so he hurried so much that he left the motor running.” When the passenger returned to Kitakyushu and tried to go home, the car would be empty of gas. I felt sorry for him, so I returned to the terminal and told the lady at the Information Desk about the car.

In the Bible there are warnings about being in too much of a hurry. In Proverbs 19:2 it is written, It is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, and he sins who hastens with his feet, and according to Proverbs 21:5, The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

Just like the passenger who was in too much of a hurry, the Christian who acts hastily will suffer loss. When we make a hasty decision without waiting on the leadership of the Lord, the possibility is high that the result of that decision will not be the result that we desired. Wanting a child, Sarah acted hastily, and the result was a war that continues to this day. (Genesis 16)

Like the passenger who was in such a hurry that he forgot to turn off the engine of his car, Christians who run ahead of the Lord without waiting for His leadership will bring disappointment to themselves.
Let us remember the exhortation in Psalm 37:7 --
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him.
