先日、病院に行ったとき、医者が「明日、胃の検査をします。今晩9時から何も食べないでください。明日の朝7時までは水やお茶を飲んでもいいが、7時過ぎには何も飲まないでください。」
私は、聞きました。「コーヒーは飲んでもいいですか？」
すると医者は「だめです」と言われました。

気がふさいだまま病院を出ました。
なぜなら私は、毎朝ホットコーヒーを飲むのを楽しみにしているからです。
毎朝起きて、顔を洗って、そしてすぐにコーヒーを作ります。
コーヒーを飲みながらE-mailと聖書を読むことが日課です。

みなさんもそうですか？
朝家を出る前にあなたも必ずコーヒーやお茶を飲みますか？
やはり飲まないと午前中は気分が優れませんね。

毎朝必ずコーヒーやお茶を飲む皆さんにお聞きします。
コーヒーやお茶を飲む習慣とともに、聖書を読む習慣を守っていますか？
毎朝、家を出る前にあなたは、必ず聖書を読みますか？

毎朝、コーヒーやお茶を飲むが、聖書を読まないクリスチャンは、どんな状態を示しているかわかりますか？
「私の体は、私の魂より大切だ」という状態です。
もちろん、この状態であるクリスチャンの信仰は、あまり成長しない信仰です。

コーヒーやお茶を飲むことが体を元気づけるのと同じように、聖書を読むことは、魂に元気を与えます。
「生まれたばかりの乳飲み子のように、純粋な、みことばの乳を慕い求めなさい。それによって成長するためです。」Ⅰペテロの手紙２:2

　　　 

A MORNING WITHOUT COFFEE

When I went to the hospital, the doctor said, “I want to do an exam of your stomach tomorrow, so from 9:00 tonight do not eat anything. You may drink water or green tea, but do not drink anything after 7:00 in the morning.” I asked, “Is it okay if I drink coffee?” He replied, “No.”

I left the hospital in low spirits because I love drinking hot coffee in the morning. Every morning when I wake up, I wash my face, and then I make some coffee right away.
Drinking coffee while I read email and the Bible is my daily custom.

Is it the same for you? Before you leave your home, do you always have some coffee or green tea? If you do not, do you feel bad all morning?

I have a question for everyone that drinks coffee or green tea every morning. Along with your custom of drinking coffee or green tea, do you observe the custom of reading the Bible also? Every morning before you leave your home, do you read the Bible without fail?

Do you know what attitude the Christian who drinks coffee or green tea every morning but does not read the Bible is displaying? It is the attitude that “my body is more important than my soul.” Of course, the faith of the Christian who has that attitude will not grow.

Just as drinking coffee or green tea refreshes the body, reading the Bible refreshes the soul.
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. (First Peter 2:2)

私の好きな歌で「One More Night With The Frogs」という歌があります。
出エジプト記8章に記録されている出来事についての面白い歌です。

神様は、モーセを通してパロに言いました。「わたしの民を行かせ、彼らにわたしに仕えさせるようにせよ。」パロが断ったので神様は、エジプトにいろんな災害をもたらしました。

２番目の災害は、かえる でした。「かえるがはい上がって、エジプトの地をおおった。」 出エジプト記8:3によると、かえるは、エジプト人の寝室、寝台、窓、こね鉢に入って来ました。想像してみてください。夜に寝室に行って、掛け布団をはぐるとベッドの中にカエルが沢山いる状態。

出エジプト記8:8でパロは、モーセに言いました。「かえるを除くように、主に祈れ。」モーセは、パロに聞きました。「いつ祈ったらよいのか。」
あなたがパロだったら「今すぐに」と答えたでしょう。驚くことにパロは「明日」と答えました。本来なら今直ぐ、かえるをエジプトから除く事が出来たのに彼は、もう一晩かえると一緒に過ごす惨めな選択をしました。

パロのような愚かなものにならないでください。キリストを信じる機会が与えられたら「明日」と言ってはいけません。

また、クリスチャンは、神様の御心に従うように聖霊に導かれたとき「明日」と答えることは、本当に愚かなことです。
「きょう、もし御声を聞くならば、あなたの心をかたくなにしてはならない。」へブル人への手紙４:７

今、神様は、あなたにどんな決心を導いておられるでしょうか。その決心を明日まで伸ばさないでください。
かると一緒にもう一晩過ごさないでください。

　　　 

ONE MORE NIGHT WITH THE FROGS

One of my favorite songs is One More Night With The Frogs. It is an amusing song about an event recorded in chapter 8 of Exodus. God spoke to Pharaoh through Moses and said, Let my people go, that they may serve me. Pharaoh refused, so the Lord sent various plagues to Egypt.

The second plague was the plague of frogs. Frogs covered the land of Egypt. According to Exodus 8:3, there were frogs in the bedroom, in the beds, in the ovens, and in the kneading bowls. Imagine – you go into your bedroom and lift up the futon cover and the futon is filled with frogs.

In Exodus 8:8 Pharaoh said to Moses, Intreat the Lord, that he may take away the frogs. Moses asked, When shall I intreat for you? If it were you, you would have replied, “Right away,” wouldn’t you? Amazingly Pharaoh answered, Tomorrow. He could have had the frogs removed immediately, but he chose to spend one more miserable night with the frogs.

Please do not become a foolish person like Pharaoh. If you have an opportunity to believe in Christ, you must not say, “Tomorrow.”

Also, when a Christian is led by the Holy Spirit to obey the will of God, it is foolish to reply, “Tomorrow.” Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart. (Hebrews 4:7)

What decision is the Lord leading you to make right now? Please do not put that decision off until tomorrow. Please do not spend one more night with the frogs.

先週の日曜日、午後に女性集会がありました。
聖書の学びの後に女性たちは、桜の木の絵を描きました。
みんなは、同じ絵を描きましたが一人ひとりの絵は個性のある異なる絵でした。

例えば、ある女性の絵の空の色は深い青色でした。
他の女性は薄い青色の空を描きました。
桜の花びらが少しだけの木を描いた女性もいましたが、満開の木を描いた女性もいました。
また別の女性は、絵の下に緑色の芝生を描きました。
みんなの絵は、少しずつ違っていましたが、すべての作品は、とても美しい心豊かな作品でした。

聖書によると、神様も作品を作りました。
主の作品は、私たちです。
「私たちは神の作品であって、良い行いをするためにキリスト・イエスにあって作られたのです。」エペソ人への手紙2:10
この箇所によると、ひとりひとりのクリスチャンは、神様の作品です。
この箇所を読むときに「私たち」の代わりに「私」を入れて読んでください。
「私は神の作品です。」

この言葉の意義がわかりますか。神様にとって私たちは、みんな尊いものです。
そこで日曜学校の先生は、とても面白いことを言いました。
「God don’t make no junk.」
「神様は廃品をつくりません。」

その通りです。神様の作品の中に醜い者は一人もいません。
女性たちの絵は全て異なっていましたが、全員が美しい作品であったように私たちの顔と身体と性格は異なっていますが私たちを作ってくださった神様にとって私たちは、みんな美しい作品です。

「わたしの目には、あなたは高価で貴い。わたしはあなたを愛しています。」イザヤ書43:4a

　　　 

THE PAINTINGS OF THE LADIES

Last Sunday afternoon there was a ladies meeting. After the Bible study, the ladies painted a picture of a cherry tree. Each of the ladies painted the same picture, but the painting of each lady was different.

Some ladies painted the color of the sky a deep blue while other ladies painted it a light blue. There were ladies who painted the tree with just a few cherry blossoms while other ladies painted a tree in full bloom. One lady painted some green grass at the bottom of her picture. All of the paintings differed just a little, but all of them were very beautiful pictures.

God painted some pictures too.
We are His paintings. We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.
According to this passage, each Christian is the workmanship of God. When you read this passage, in place of the word “We,” put in the word “I.”
I am His workmanship.

Do you understand the significance of these words? Each one of us is precious to God. A Sunday School teacher said something very interesting. “God don’t make no junk.”

That is exactly right. There are no ugly people among the workmanship of God. Just as the paintings of the ladies were all beautiful even though they all differed just a little, our faces, bodies, and personalities may be different, but to the God who created us, we all are beautiful works of art.

You are precious in my sight. I love you.

中国の武漢市で発生した新型コロナウイルスは現在、世界に急拡大しています。
報告によると、この感染は、もうすでにオーストラリア、マレーシア、カナダ、フランス、ドイツとアメリカまで拡大しています。日本でも新型コロナウイルス肺炎に感染している人は17名となりました。

そして感染しない最も効果的な対処方法は、よく手を洗うことだそうです。特に洗わない手で顔を触ってはいけないそうです。

神様に喜ばれる生き方をしたいクリスチャンにもよく手を洗うことが大切です。
ヤコブの手紙4:8によると手を洗い清めることは神様に近づく１つの条件です。
「神に近づきなさい。そうすれば、神はあなたに近づいてくださいます。悪のある人たち。手を洗いきよめなさい。」

出エジプト記30:17-21によると会見の天幕に入る前に祭司たちは、手を洗わなければなりませんでした。

手は、私たちの行動のシンボルですから「手を洗いきよめなさい」の意味は「聖い生き方をしなさい」です。もし私たちの生活に主に喜ばれない行動があれば祈りを通して主に近づく条件は、その行動を悔い改めてやめることです。

イザヤ書1:15-16で神様は、言われました。
「あなたがたが手を差し伸べて祈っても、わたしはあなたから目をそらす。どんなに祈りを増し加えても、聞くことはない。あなたの手は血まみれだ。洗え。身をきよめよ。わたしの前で、あなたの悪を取り除け。悪事を働くのをやめよ。」

また、詩篇24:3-4で「だれが、主の山に登りえようか。だれが、その聖なる所に立ちえようか。手がきよく、心がきよらかな者。」と書いてあります。

　　　 

WASH YOUR HANDS ! 

The Coronavirus that began in the city of Wuhan in China is gradually spreading to other countries. According to reports, this virus has already spread to Australia, Malaysia, Canada, France, Germany and the United States. In Japan too, seven people have been found who have contracted this sickness.

They say that the most effective method of avoiding this virus is to wash your hands often. Especially they say we should not touch our face with unwashed hands.

Washing the hands often is important also to Christians who want to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. According to James 4:8, washing the hands is one condition for drawing near to God. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

According to Exodus 30:17-21, the priests had to wash their hands before they entered the tabernacle.

Our hands are a symbol of our deeds, so the meaning of wash your hands is live a holy life. If there are deeds in our life that are not pleasing to the Lord, repenting of those deeds and quitting them is a condition for approaching the Lord through prayer.

In Isaiah 1:15-16 God said, When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil.

Also, in Psalm 24:3-4 it is written, Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart.
