どんなことでも？ マジで〜？

もし、私がすべてのクリスチャンに暗記すべき個所のリストを作ったら、ピリピ人への手紙4:13が、そのリストに入ります。
「私は、私を強くしてくださる方によって、どんなことでもできるのです。」
本当にどんなことでもできるのでしょうか。
私は、アメリカの大リーグのワールドシリーズの第7戦の9回の裏に満塁サヨナラホームランを打ちたい。
私に、それができると思いますか。
もちろん78歳には無理です。

では「どんなことでも」とは、どんな意味でしょうか。
私たちがやりたいことではなく、私のやるべきことです。
すなわち、神様の御心であることです。

もし、皆さんは、17歳の頃の私を知っていたら、おそらく私は、宣教師になることは不可能だと思ったでしょう。
私は、気の小さい、内気な少年でした。
しかし、私が宣教師になる事は、神様の御心でした。
主が与えてくださった御力によって宣教師になることができました。

全てのクリスチャンを2つのグループに分けることができます。
「できる」クリスチャンと「できない」クリスチャンです。
何かの奉仕をするように、あるいは、何かの決心をするように主に導かれる時「できない」と答えないで「私は、私を強くしてくださる方によって、どんなことでもできるのです。」と答えましょう。

私たちを強くしてくださる「方」は、誰ですか。
英語の聖書を見れば分かります。こう書いてあります。
「私は、私を強くしてくださるキリストによって、どんなことでもできるのです。」キリストが私たちを強くしてくださいます。
私たちは、主の御心を行うことができます。
どんなことでも?　はい。　そうです。

　　 

ALL THINGS?  REALLY?　
If I made a list of passages that all Christians should memorize, Philippians 4:13 would be on that list.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
All things? Really?  I want to hit a walk-off bases-loaded home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of the seventh game of the Major League World Series. Do you think I can do it? Of course, it’s not possible for a 78-year-old man like me.

Well, what is the meaning of “all things?” It is not the things we want to do but the things we ought to do. In other words, the things that are the will of God.

If you could have known me when I was 17 years old, you probably would have thought that it would be impossible for me to become a missionary. I was a timid, shy teenager. However, my becoming a missionary was the will of God, so through the strength that God gave me, I was able to become a missionary.

All Christians can be divided into two groups – the “I can” Christians and the “I can’t” Christians. When we are led by the Lord to do some sort of service or make some sort of decision, instead of replying, “I can’t,” let us reply, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Because Christ will strengthen us, we can do the will of God. All things? Yes, all things.
