神様に通じない言葉

皆さんがご存知のように私は、ジョークが大好きです。
まだ厳しい残暑が続いています。私は、このジョークを多くの方々に言いました。
「今日は、とても暑いので、ニワトリがゆで卵を産んでますよ」このジョークをコストコ・ハローデイ・郵便局・病院・クリーニング店など色んな場所で言った時、皆さんは、よく笑ってくれました。

しかし、新聞の集金に来た男性に言った時、彼は、まじめに「ああ、そうですか」と答えました。
彼は、そのジョークが事実だと思っていると分かった私は、あわてて説明しました。
「いいえ、違います。アメリカのジョークですよ。」彼は、ちっとも笑わずに帰って行きました。

皆さんも、同じ経験をした事があるでしょう。
自分の言いたい事が、なかなか相手に伝わりません。
そのように、私たちが神様に言う言葉も通じない時があります。

例えば、クリスチャンが「神様、私は、聖書に何と書いてあるかわかるけど…］と言ったら「けど…」の後に続くのは、どんな言葉であっても、神様に通じません。なぜなら、
「神様を知っていると言いながら、その命令を守らない者は、偽り者であり、心理はその人のうちにありません。」Ⅰヨハネの手紙2:4

この言葉も神様には通じません。
「神様、私は、完全なものでは、ありませんが多くの良い行いをするので、天国に入れてください。」
聖書にこう書いてあります。
「あなたがたは、恵のゆえに、信仰によって救われます。行いによるのではありません。」
エペソ人への手紙2:8-9
だから、上記の言葉は、神様には通じません。

神様に通じるのは、この言葉です。
「神様、私は、罪人です。自分の罪を悔い改めて、十字架の上で私の罪のために死んでくださったイエス・キリストを信じます。私の罪を赦してください。」

　　 

WORDS THAT WILL NOT COMMUNICATE TO GOD

As all of you know, I like to tell jokes. Lately, the weather has been very hot, so I told this joke to several people. “It is so hot the chickens are laying hard-boiled eggs.” When I told this joke at places like Costco, Hallo Day, the post office, the hospital, and the dry cleaners, everyone laughed.

However, when I told this joke to the man who came to collect for the newspaper, he replied seriously, “Oh, really?” When I realized that he thought the joke was a fact, I hurriedly explained, “No, it’s an American joke.” He left without smiling even a little.

You have had the same experience, haven’t you? The words you want to say just do not seem to communicate to the other person. Likewise, there are times when our words do not communicate to God.

For example, when a Christian says, “God, I know what is written in the Bible, but ……,” no matter what the words may be that come after “but,” they will not communicate to God because He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (First John 2:4)

These words too will not communicate to God. “God, I know I am not a perfect person, but I am a good person who does a lot of good deeds, so please let me enter heaven.” In the Bible it is written, For by grace are you saved through faith, not of works.
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

These are the words that will communicate to God. “God, I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins.”
