この水をコカコーラに変えてください

台風10号が来る前に、友達が教えてくれました。
「先生、今回は強い台風ですよ。明日、水が出なくなるかもしれないので、水を用意した方がいいですよ」
そして、空のコカコーラの大きなボトルが5本あったので私は、それに水をいっぱい入れました。

台風の後、水道が使えるかどうか確認しました。
すると水が出ました。
そこで、私は困りました。5本の大きなコカコーラのボトルに入れた水をどうしょうか。
その時、ヨハネの福音書2章に書いてあるキリストの奇跡を思い出しました。
キリストが水をブドウ酒に変えました。
そして、祈りました。
「主よ、この水をコカコーラに変えてください」
私は、月曜日から待っていますが、水は、まだ変わりません。

もちろん、上記は作り話です。
しかし、考えてください。
私の祈りは、多くの方々の祈りに似ていると思いませんか。
私たちは、主の御心を考えずに自分勝手な祈りをします。

キリストが弟子達に教えた祈りを覚えているでしょう。
「主の祈り」と呼ばれている祈りです。
その模範の祈りによると、願いを祈る前に私たちは、この祈りをすべきです。
「みこころが天で行なわれるように地でも行われますように。」マタイの福音書6:10
つまり、私たちは、主に願いを話す前に、自分が願うことは、主の御心かどうか考えるべきです。
そうしないと、私たちの祈りは、私の「主よ、この水をコカコーラに変えてください」のように無駄な祈りになってしまいます。

「何事でも神のみこころにかなう願いをするなら、神はその願いを聞いてくださるということ、これこそ神に対する私たちの確信です。」Ⅰヨハネの手紙5:14

　　  

“PLEASE CHANGE THIS WATER
INTO COCA-COLA”

Before the typhoon came, one of my friends told me, “Pastor. It is a strong typhoon. There might not be any water tomorrow, so you had better prepare some water.” I had five large Coca-Cola bottles, so I filled them up with water.

After the typhoon, I checked to see whether there was any water or not. There was water. Because of this, I was troubled. What do I do with the water in the five Coca-Cola bottles? Just then, I remembered the miracle of Christ written in chapter two of the Gospel of John. Christ changed water into wine. I prayed, “Lord, please change this water into Coca-Cola.” I have been waiting since Monday, but the water has not changed.

Of course, the above story is a made-up story. However, think about it. Don’t you think my prayer resembles a lot of our prayers? We pray our selfish prayers without considering the will of God.

You remember the prayer that Christ taught His disciples, don’t you? It is the prayer called “The Lord’s Prayer.” According to that model prayer, before we tell the Lord our requests, we should pray, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10) In other words, before we tell God our request, we should consider whether our request is the will of God or not. If we do not, our prayers will end up like my vain “Please change this water into Coca-Cola” prayer.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (First John 5:14)
