充分すぎるほどの…

ワイエット先生の家族が、まだ日本にいた頃、クリスティ先生が毎週、日曜日のお弁当を作ってくださいました。
彼らがアメリカに帰国してからは日曜日のお弁当をコンビニで買うつもりでした。
しかし現在、教会の一人の姉妹が私のお弁当を作って下さっています。

その姉妹が作るのは、いつもとても美味しいお弁当です。
そのお弁当は、私にとって充分すぎるほどのお弁当ですから、それを全部食べることができません。
その場合、日曜日の夜に残りを食べるので姉妹が作ってくださるお弁当は、昼食と夕食になります。

姉妹の充分すぎるほどのお弁当を食べるたびに私は、よく聖書の２箇所を思い出します。
まず、エペソ人への手紙3:20-21です。
「私たちのうちに働く力によって、私たちの願うところ、思うところのすべてを越えて豊かに施すことができる方に、教会により、またキリスト・イエスにより、栄光が、代々にわたって、とこしえまでありますように。」

もう一つの箇所は、Ⅱコリント人への手紙9:8です。
「神は、あなたがたを、常にすべてのことに満ち足りて、すべての良いわざにあふれる者とするために、あらゆる恵をあふれるばかり与えることのできる方です。」

キリストを信じている人は、霊的に乏しい生活をする必要がありません。
「主は私の羊飼い。私は、乏しいことがありません。」
詩篇23:1

もし、私たちが主の御心にかなう生き方をすれば、主は、ご自分の愛と恵みと哀れみを豊かに与えてくださいます。
クリスチャンが霊的に乏しくなる事は、神様の御心ではありません。

キリストは、私たちが豊かな人生を送ることができるために来てくださいました。（ヨハネの福音書10:10）

　　 

MORE THAN ENOUGH… 

When the Wyatt family was still in Japan, Cristy fixed my Sunday lunch every week. After they returned to America, I intended to buy my lunch at a convenient store. However, now one of the ladies of the church makes my lunch for me.

The lunch that she makes for me is delicious. Many times, it is more than enough, so I cannot eat all of it. Those times, I eat the leftovers for supper, so the lunch that she prepares for me becomes my lunch and my supper.

When I eat her lunches that are more than enough, I remember two Bible passages.
First, I remember Ephesians 3:20-21.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.

The other passage is Second Corinthians 9:8.
God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

There is no need for the person who believes in Christ to live a life of want.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
(Psalm 23:1)
If our way of living pleases the Lord, He will give us His love, grace, and mercy in abundance.
It is not the will of the Lord for the Christian to be a spiritual beggar.

Christ came so that we could have life and have it more abundantly.
(John 10:10)
