私も一度、選ばれました。そこで陪審員になりたかったのですが、その日選出された人が多過ぎたために帰宅するように命ぜられました。

キリストの最初の裁判は、不法な刑の裁判でした。
そこで新しい裁判を行いましょう。
あなたは、陪審員の一人です。
下記の証人の話を読んで、キリストが有罪か、無罪かの判決を下してください。

最初の証人は、キリストの最初の裁判を行ったピラト総督です。
これは、彼の証言です。
「この人には何の罪も見つからない。」
ルカの福音書23:4

次の証人は、ピラト総督の細君でした。
彼女の証言によると、キリストは「正しい人」でした。
（マタイの福音書27:19）

次の証人は、３年間キリストと一緒に生活したユダという弟子です。キリストを裏切った彼の証言は、これです。
「私は罪のない人の血を売ったりして。」
マタイの福音書27:4

キリストの弟子達ペテロとヨハネも「キリストに何の罪もない」と証言しました。
Ⅰペテロの手紙2:22とⅠヨハネの手紙3:5

では、陪審員であるあなたの判決は？
キリストは、有罪ですか。無罪ですか。
もし、私たちが証人達の証言を信じるならば、キリストには「死刑に当たる罪は、何一つない」と認めなければなりません。

キリストは、無罪だったのに、なぜ十字架につけられたのでしょうか。
「キリストが私たちのために死んでくださった。」
ローマ人への手紙5:8

「神は、罪を知らない方を、私たちの代わりに罪とされました。それは、私たちがその方にあって、神の義となるためです。」Ⅱコリント人への手紙5:21

　　 
A NEW TRIAL OF CHRIST 

One of the responsibilities of American citizens is jury duty. If we are called by the government, we must serve on a jury. I was called once. I wanted to be on the jury, but too many people were called that day, so I was told to go home.

The first trial of Christ was an unfair trial, so let’s conduct a new trial. You will be one of the members of the jury. Read the testimonies of the witnesses and decide if Christ was guilty or innocent.

The first witness is Pilate, the governor who conducted the first trial.
Here is his testimony: I find no fault in this man.
(Luke 23:4)

The next witness is Pilate’s wife.
She called Christ a just man. (Matthew 27:19)

The next witness is a disciple who lived with Christ for three years. He is Judas, the disciple who betrayed Christ.
This is his testimony: I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. (Matthew 27:4)

Peter and John, the disciples of Christ, testified that there was no sin in Christ.
(First Peter 2:22 and First John 3:5)

Well, what is your verdict? Was Christ guilty or innocent? If we believe the testimonies of the witnesses, we must admit there was no sin in Christ that was worthy of death.

Although Christ was innocent, He was crucified. Why?
Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (Second Corinthians 5:21)

桜の木のない日本を想像することができますか？
2012年頃から秋田県で多くの桜の木が枯れ始めました。
この問題を調査した専門家は、その原因がクビアカツヤカミキリという甲虫だと分かりました。
この種類の甲虫は、日本原産ではなく外来種で外国からの輸入物資などを通して日本に入って来たと思われます。

普通カミキリ虫は、200個ほどの卵を産みますが、クビアカツヤカミキリは、500～1,000個以上の卵を産みます。
また、クビアカツヤカミキリは、風に乗って2㎞先まで飛ぶことも出来ます。
2012年頃からクビアカツヤカミキリは、隣接11県以上に拡散しました。
岩田隆太郎（日本大学生物資源科学部）教授の研究によると、このクビアカツヤカミキリの被害を止める方法を発見できなければ、この先30年で4月に満開のお花見・桜名所もなくなり、桜の木がない日本になるかもしれません。

クビアカツヤカミキリは、桜の木を内側から食べ、成木をたちまち枯死させてしまう。
これは人間の心にある罪に似ています。
マルコの福音書7:20-23でキリストは言われました。
「人から出るもの、これが、人を汚すのです。中側から、すなわち、人の心から出てくるものは、悪い考え、不品行、盗み、殺人、姦淫、貪欲、よこしま、欺き、好色、ねたみ、そしり、高ぶり、愚かさであり、これらのあくはみな、内側から出て、人を汚すのです。」

人を汚すものは、心から出るもので、聖なる神様に喜ばれる人になるために、私たちは、新しい心が必要です。
エゼキエル書36:26で神様は
「私はあなたに新しい心を与える」
とおっしゃいました。
神様は、キリストを信じる全ての人に新しい心を与えてくださいます。
「だれでもキリストのうちにあるなら、その人は、新しく作られた者です。ふるいものは過ぎ去って、見よ、すべてが新しくなりました。」
Ⅱコリント人への手紙5:17

　　 

A JAPAN WITH NO CHERRY TREES

Can you imagine Japan with no cherry trees? In 2012 many cherry trees in Akita Prefecture began to die. An expert who studied the problem found that the cause was an insect called a red-necked longhorn beetle. This species of beetle is not native to Japan. It is thought that the red-necked longhorn beetle entered Japan through packages from overseas.

Normally beetles lay about 200 eggs, but the red-necked longhorn beetle can lay more than 500 eggs. Also, the red-necked longhorn beetle can travel more than two kilometers by riding the wind. Since 2012 the red-necked longhorn beetle has spread to eleven prefectures. According to Professor Ryutaro Iwata of Nihon University, if a method to stop the red-necked longhorn beetle is not found, in 30 years we will not be able to go flower-viewing in April.

The red-necked longhorn beetle kills a tree by eating it from the inside, so it resembles the sin that is in the heart of man.

In Mark 7:20-23 Christ said,
What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.

Because that which comes out of the heart of man defiles us, to become a person who is pleasing to God, we need a new heart. In Ezekiel 36:26 God said,
I will give you a new heart.
God gives a new heart to all people who believe in Christ.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(Second Corinthians 5:17)

数週間前から私は、あることでとても困っています。
毎週、日曜日に教会から帰ってから 嘔吐しました。
もしかしたらずっと水を飲むために使用しているペットボトルが原因かなと思ったので、その後新しいコカ・コーラの空ボトルに変えました。

そのことを教会の方々に相談すると彼らは「ペットボトルよりステンレス水筒の方がいいですよ」といってくれたので月曜日の朝に買物に行って私は、ステンレス水筒を買うつもりでしたが、うっかり忘れてしまいました。

その日、私は、ビックリする事がありました。
毎年、近所の上貫地区で敬老者会が行われます。
去年は出席しましたが今年は行けませんでした。
午後に近所の女性が突然家に訪れました。
彼女は、言いました。「ボードさんは、高齢者会に来られなかったので、皆さんに贈った記念品をあなたにも持って来ました。どうぞ。」その記念品を開けた瞬間、ビックリしました。
それは私が欲しかったステンレス水筒でした!

それを見て私は、
マタイの福音書6:31-32の箇所を思い出しました。
「何を食べるか、何を飲むか、何を着るか、などと言って心配するのはやめなさい。あなたがたの天の父は、それがみなあなたに必要であることを知っておられます。」
神様は、不思議な方法で私の必要な物を与えてくださいました。

神様は、クリスチャンである皆さんの生活を細かい所まで関心を持っておられることを知っていますか。
マタイの福音書6:26-30によると、神様は、空の鳥を養って、野のゆりを装ってくださいます。
ルカの福音書12:6によると、雀の一羽でも、神様の御前には忘れられてはいません。
「あなたは、たくさんの雀よりもすぐれた者です。」
ルカの福音書12:7

今、何を心配していますか。神様にあなたのすべての心配事を委ねてみてください。
「神があなたのことを心配してくださるからです。」

THE UNEXPECTED PRESENT 

For the past few weeks, I have been troubled about something. After I come home from church every Sunday, I have an upset stomach. I thought it might be the soda bottle that I have been using for a long time to drink water, so I changed it to a new Coca-Cola bottle.

When I told Brother and Sister Katoh about this, they said it would be better to use a thermos bottle, so when I went to the store on Monday, I intended to buy one, but I forgot.

That afternoon, something happened that surprised me. Every year there is a meeting for the elderly people in this area. I went last year, but I could not go this year. In the afternoon, a lady from the neighborhood came to my house suddenly. She said, “Mr. Board, since you were not able to come to the meeting for the elderly people, I brought you one of the presents that we gave to everyone.” When I opened the present, I was surprised. It was the thermos bottle that I was wanting!

When I saw it, I remembered Matthew 6:31-32.
Do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
God supplied what I needed in a strange way.

Christian, do you know that God is concerned about even the small details of your life? According to Matthew 6:26-30, God feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies of the field. According to Luke 12:6, not one sparrow is forgotten before God.
You are of more value than many sparrows.
(Luke 12:7)

What are you worried about today? Try casting all of your worries on the Lord,
for He cares for you. (First Peter 5:7)

私は、アメリカの南部で育ったので、年中アイスティーを飲みます。冬の寒い日でも夕食にアイスティーを飲みます。
アイスティーを作る方法は、お湯を沸かし、ティーバッグを入れて15分待ちます。
そして私は、タイマーを15分に設定して机の上に置きます。

最近、危険な事が2度程ありました。
私は、タイマーを15分に設定したのに、スタートボタンを押すのを忘れていました。
メッセージの準備に夢中になっていました。急にアイスティーを思い出してタイマーを見ました。すると15分のままでした。
急いで台所に行って見ると、お湯は煮えたぎり残り少なくなっていました。

別の日にも私は、タイマーのスタートボタンを押したけど、タイマーを台所に忘れてしまい、それが鳴った時、私の耳には聞こえませんでした。
仕事の途中で、突然アイスティーの事を思い出し、急いで台所に行ってみると、お湯は、ほとんど空になっていました。

皆さんは、聖書を持っているでしょう。
もし日曜日の夜から次の日曜日の朝まであなたの聖書がテーブルの上や本棚の中に置かれっぱなしであれば、スタートボタンが押されていないタイマーや他の部屋で忘れられたタイマーと同じです。役に立たないものになります。

聖書は、私たちを罪から守ってくださいます。
「あなたに罪を犯さないため、私は、あなたのことばを心にたくは、えました。」詩篇119:11

聖書は、私たちに導きを与えてくださいます。
「あなたのみことばは、私の足のともしび、私の道の光です。」詩篇119:105

聖書は、私たちを霊的に成長させてくださいます。
「生まれたばかりの乳飲み子のように、純粋な、みことばの乳を慕い求めなさい。それによって成長します。」
Ⅰペテロの手紙2:2

しかし、読まれていない聖書は、私たちに何も助けも与えることができません。毎日聖書を読みましょう!

　　 

THE USELESS TIMER  

I was raised in the South, so I drink iced tea all year long. Even on the coldest day of the winter, I drink iced tea. When I make iced tea, after the water boils, I put in the tea bags and wait 15 minutes. I set my timer to 15 minutes and place it on my desk.

Lately there were two dangerous incidents. I set the timer to 15 minutes, but I forgot to turn it on. I was absorbed in the preparation of my sermon when I remembered the iced tea and looked at the timer. It was still set on 15 minutes. I hurriedly went to the kitchen and looked. Only about half of the water was left.

Another day I turned the timer on, but I left it in the kitchen, so when it beeped, I couldn’t hear it. While I was working, I suddenly remember the iced tea. I hurried to the kitchen and looked. Almost all of the water was gone.

You have a Bible, but if from Sunday evening until the next Sunday morning your Bible is left on the table or in a bookcase, your Bible is the same as a timer that has not been turned on or left in another room. It is useless.

The Bible will protect us from sin.
Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You! (Psalm 119:11)

The Bible will give us guidance.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

The Bible will cause us to grow spiritually.
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.
(First Peter 2:2)

However, an unread Bible can give us no help at all. Let’s read the Bible daily!
