私は、喜びに満ち溢れているピリピ人への手紙が大好きです。
私たちの喜びを奪い取る主なものは、日々の出来事・人間関係・物質的な事・思い煩いです。

ピリピ書の第１章によると私たちは、日々の出来事に関わらず、キリストを私たちの人生の中心にすることによって心の喜びを保つことができます。
「私にとっては、生きることはキリストです。」
ピリピ人への手紙1:21

ピリピ書の第２章によると私たちは、人間関係の問題に関わらず他人を自分よりも優れたものと思うことによって心の喜びを保つことができます。
「何事でも自己中心や虚栄からすることなく、へりくだって、互いに人を自分よりもすぐれた者と思いなさい。」
ピリピ人への手紙2:3

ピリピ書の第３章によると私たちは、物質的な問題に関わらず自分の国籍は、天にあると覚えることによって心の喜びを保つことができます。
「彼らの思いは地上のことだけです。 けれども、私たちの国籍は天にあります。」
ピリピ人への手紙3:19-20

ピリピ書の第４章によると私たちは、心配事に関わらず祈りを通して私達の心を守ってくださる神様の平安を得て、心の喜びを保つことができます。
「何も思い煩わないで、あらゆるばあいに、感謝をもってささげる祈りと願いによって、あなたがたの願い事を神に知っていただきなさい。そうすれば、人のすべての考えにまさる神の平安が、あなたがたの心と思いをキリスト・イエスにあって守ってくれます。」
ピリピ人への手紙4:6-7

今、あなたの心に喜びはありますか？
或いは、あなたの喜びは何かに奪い取られましたか。
もし、そうであればピリピ人への手紙を読んで、喜びを取り戻してください。
「いつも主にあって喜びなさい。」

BOOK OF THE BIBLE

What is your favorite book of the Bible?  I love the book of Philippians which is overflowing with joy. The main things that steal our joy are daily events, human relationships, problems concerning material things and worry.

According to chapter 1 of Philippians, by making Christ the center of our life we can maintain the joy of our heart in spite of daily events.
For to me, to live is Christ. (1:21)

According to chapter 2 of Philippians, by esteeming others better than ourselves we can maintain the joy of our heart in spite of problems in human relationships.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (2:3)

According to chapter 3 of Philippians, by remembering that our citizenship is in heaven we can maintain the joy of our heart in spite of problems concerning material things.
They set their mind on earthly things, but our citizenship is in heaven. (3:19-20)

According to chapter 4 of Philippians, by obtaining through prayer the peace of God that protects our heart we can maintain the joy of our heart in spite of worry.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (4:6-7)

Do you have joy in your heart today or has something stolen your joy? If so, read Philippians and regain your joy.
Rejoice in the Lord always.

先日、友達から面白い記事をメールでもらいました。

もし、ハゲタカを2×3mの天井のない囲いの中に入れたら、ハゲタカは死ぬまでその囲いの中にいます。
なぜなら、飛ぶためにハゲタカは3～4mのスペースが必要だからです。

もし、コウモリを部屋の床の上に置いたら、コウモリは、ずっとその部屋を歩き周ります。
なぜなら、コウモリは、平らな場所から飛び立つ事ができないからです。

もし、マルハナバチ（大きな蜂）をグラスの中に落とすと、ハチは死ぬまで、そのグラスの中にいます。
グラスの上があいているのにハチは、ずっとグラスの下の方で、出口を探し続けます。

試練に遭う時、多くのクリスチャンは、ハゲタカやコウモリやマルハナバチに似ています。
私たちは、下や周りを見て、試練から脱出の道を必死に探そうとします。試練に遭った時ヨブは、そうしました。

『ああ、私が前へ進んでも、神はおられず、うしろに言っても、神を認めることができない。左に向かって言っても、私は神を見ず、右に向きお変えても、わたしは会うことができない。』ヨブ記23:8～9
試練に遭った時、ヨブと同じように前後・左右を見ないで上を見ましょう。

「私は山に向かって目を上げる。私の助けは、どこから来るのだろうか。私の助けは、天地を作られた主から来る。」詩篇121:1～2

THE BUZZARD, THE BAT,
AND THE BUMBLEBEE

(Recently I received this interesting article from a friend.)

[If you put a buzzard into a 2×3 meter cage that has no roof, the buzzard will remain in the cage until it dies because a buzzard needs a space of 3-4 meters to run before it can fly.

If you place a bat on the floor of a room, the bat will continue to just walk around the room because a bat cannot take off from a level place.

If you drop a bumblebee into a glass, the bumblebee will remain in that glass indefinitely. Even though the top of the glass is open, the bumblebee will search for a way out at the bottom of the glass.]

When they meet a trial, many Christians are like the buzzard or the bat or the bumblebee. We look down or around and desperately search for a way of escape. That is what Job did when he faced his trial.
Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him. On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him. He hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him. (Job 23:8-9)

When we face a trial, instead of looking forward or backward or to the left or to the right as Job did., let us look up.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)

53年前に初めて日本に来た時、私は日本の事を何も知りませんでした。日本人は、福音を聞いた事がない人が多いとだけ理解していました。
日本に来る前、テレビで航空会社のCMを見ました。
そのCMの中で日本人は、ほとんど着物を着ていて、侍が歩き回っていました。
日本は、まだそんな生活だと思っていました。

羽田空港に着いて、飛行機を降りた時、私はビックリしました。
まず、着物を着ている女性は、ほとんどいませんでした。
そして、侍は一人もいませんでした！
私は「侍は、どこですか？」と不思議に思いました。
今でも、その日を思い出す時、私は、自分の無知さを恥ずかしく思います。

ヘブル人への手紙11:8を読むたびに、私は、その経験を思い出します。
「信仰によって、アブラハムは、相続財産として受け取るべき地に出て行けとの召しを受けたとき、これに従い、どこに行くのかを知らないで、出て行きました。」
神様が、アブラハムに「あなたの生まれ故郷を出て行きなさい」と仰せられた時（創世記12:1）
「アブラハムは主がお告げになったとうりに出かけた。」創世記12:4
これは、全き献身をした人の姿です。

アブラハムのような献身を説明する３つの英語の単語があります。
ANYTHING（何でも）
ANYWHERE（何処でも）
ANYTIME（何時でも）

「主のためなら、私は、何でもします。主の御心なら私は、何処でも行きます。
私は、主の導きに何時でも従います。」これは、献身者の祈りです。

キリストが最初の4人の弟子たちに、
「私について来なさい」といわれたとき「彼らは、何もかも捨てて、イエスに従った。」ルカの福音書5:11

　　


WHERE ARE THE SAMURAI? 

When I came to Japan 53 years ago, I knew almost nothing about Japan. The only thing that I knew was that there were many people who had never heard the gospel. Sometimes I saw airlines commercials. In those commercials, everyone was wearing kimonos and samurai were walking around, so I thought life in Japan was still that kind of life.

When I got off the plane at Haneda, I was surprised. Almost no one was wearing a kimono and there wasn’t even one samurai. I wondered, “Where are the samurai?” Even now, when I remember that day, I laugh at my ignorance.

Every time I read Hebrews 11:8, I remember that experience.
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. When God said to Abraham, Get out of your country (Genesis 12:1), Abraham departed as the Lord had spoken to him. (Genesis 12:4)
This is the image of the person who is fully surrendered to the Lord.

There are three English words that explain Abraham’s kind of surrender:
ANYTHING.
ANYWHERE.
ANYTIME.

“If it is for the Lord, I will do anything. If it is the will of the Lord, I will go anywhere. I will follow the leading of the Lord anytime.” This is the prayer of the person who has dedicated his life to the Lord.

When Christ said to the first four disciples, “Follow me,” they forsook all and followed Him. (Luke 5:11)
