白い島 と 白い心

先週の日曜日、九州は白い島となりました。
北九州から鹿児島まで雪が積もり大雪でした。激しい冷え込みで、多くの街は、観測史上最低気温を更新しました。

この数日間、冷蔵庫が必要ありませんでした。なぜなら、一つの部屋を除いて、家全体が冷蔵庫となりました。30年以上の歴史がある小倉教会の日曜日の礼拝と集会が初めて大雪のために休みとなりました。

私は、雪がとても綺麗だと思います。窓からだんだん積もってくる雪を見るのは風流なものです。まだ小さかった頃、雪が降る事は私にとって大きな喜びでした。学校が休みになったし、雪ダルマを作ったり、雪合戦をしたり、ソリに乗ったりする事は本当に楽しい遊びでした。

窓から雪を眺めていると、２つの聖書の箇所を思い出しました。

「さあ、来たれ。論じ合おう。」と主は仰せられる。「たとい、あなたがたの罪が緋のように赤くても、雪のように白くなる。たとい、紅のように赤くても、羊の毛のようになる。」
イザヤ書1:18

もう１つの箇所は詩篇51篇に書いてあります。大変大きな罪を犯したダビデは神様に自分を赦して下さるように懇願しています。
7節で、彼は祈りました。
「私を洗ってください。そうすれば、私は雪よりも白くなりましょう。」

聖書は十字架の上で私達の罪のために死んで下さったイエス様を信じる人の心は雪のようになると教えています。神様にキリストの体から流れた聖い血で自分の心を洗ってほしい人は、この祈りをして下さい。

♪目をあげて　なが十字架を　うちあをぐ　わがこころに
　そそがせたまえ　とうときあがないの　きよきちしお

A WHITE ISLAND AND A WHITE HEART　

Last Sunday Kyushu became a white island. Snow piled up from Kitakyushu City to Kagoshima City. Because of the extremely freezing weather, there were record low temperatures in many towns. For several days I have not needed a refrigerator because, except for one room, my whole house became a refrigerator. For the first time in the more than 30 years of history of the Kokura church, the Sunday service was cancelled because of weather.

I think the snow is beautiful. I enjoy watching it from my window as it slowly accumulates. When I was young, the snow was a great joy to me. School would be out, and building snowmen, having snowball fights, and riding sleds were great fun.

As I stand at my window and watch the snow, I remember two Bible passages.
Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
(Isaiah 1:18)

The other passage is written in Psalm 51.
David committed a terrible sin and is pleading to God for forgiveness. In verse 7 he prayed.
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

The Bible teaches that the heart of the person who believes in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins will become white like snow. If you want God to wash your heart in the precious blood that flowed from the body of Christ, pray this prayer

♪Lord Jesus, for this I most humbly entreat,
　I wait, blessed Lord, at Thy crucified feet,
　By faith for my cleansing, I see thy blood flow—
　Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

　Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow,
　Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.♪
