教会のシンボル

東京オリンピックは4年後なのに、日本はもうすでに多くの外国人を向かえる準備を始めました。例えば、英語の地図をもっとわかりやすい地図にするために、日本のGSI（国土地理院）は今まで使われていた18のシンボルを変更する事になりました。

今まで「Ｘ」は交番のシンボルでしたが、それは「敬礼をしている警官の姿」に変わります。
ホテルの「Ｈ」は「ベッドで寝ている人の姿」に変えられます。
郵便局「〒」の新しいシンボルは「封筒」です。
ドイツのナチズムのシンボルに似ている寺院の「卍」は「パゴダの形」になります。

教会の新しいシンボルはどんなのだと思いますか。
今まで「十字架」でした。新しいシンボルは「屋根の上に十字架のある教会」になります。
やはり教会のシンボルは十字架です。なぜなら、教会の全ての教えの中心はイエス・キリストの十字架だからです。
世間の人々にとって十字架は単なるアクセサリーですが、キリストを信じている人にとって、キリストの十字架は私達に対する神様の愛のシンボルです。

聖書によると
「私たちがまだ罪人であったとき、キリストが私たちのために死んでくださったことにより、神は私たちに対するご自身の愛を明らかにしておられます。」ローマ人への手紙 5:8

聖書によると、キリストは十字架の上で全ての人々の罪のために死んで下さいました。罪のないキリストは、罪深い私達の身代りになって下さいました。

聖書のⅠペテロの手紙2:24によると、キリストは、
「自分から十字架の上で、私たちの罪をその身に負われました。それは、私たちが罪を離れ、義のために生きるためです。キリストの打ち傷のゆえに、あなたがたは、いやされたのです。」

聖歌402番 「おかに たてる あらけずりの」 の通りです

　 すくいぬしは  ひとのために  すてませりいのちを
　 十字架にイエスきみ  われをあがないたもう

THE SYMBOL OF THE CHURCH　

Although the Tokyo Olympics are still four years away, Japan has already begun preparations to welcome many foreigners. For example, in order to make maps easier to understand, the Geospatial Information Authority (GSI) of Japan has decided to change 18 symbols that have been used until now.

Until now the letter X was the symbol for a police station, but it will change to an image of a police officer saluting. The letter H, the symbol for a hotel, will be changed to the image of a person lying in bed. The new symbol for the post office will be an envelope. Until now the symbol for a temple resembled the swastika of Nazi Germany, so it will become the image of a pagoda.

What do you think the symbol of the church will be? Until now it has been a cross. The new symbol will be a church with a cross on top. After all is said and done, the symbol of the church is the cross, for the cross of Jesus Christ is the center of all of the teachings of the Bible.

To many people, the cross is nothing more than an accessory, but to the person who believes in Christ, the cross is the symbol of God’s love to us.
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

According to the Bible, on the cross Christ died for the sins of all people. The sinless Christ became the substitute for sinful people. According to First Peter 2:24, Christ
Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

It’s exactly as the hymn “The Old Rugged Cross” says:
♪[On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, ‘till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.]♬
