冷たいコ－ヒ－

私の家に来てくださったお客様にコーヒーを出す事にしました。
友達からもらったコーヒーメーカーに水を入れ、レバーを左に動かし、そしてスイッチを入れて待ちました。赤いボタンが青になって、カップにコーヒーを注いでお客様に持って行きました。
彼は、コーヒーを飲んで「冷たい！」と叫びました。ビックリして私も飲んでみました。 確かに冷たいコーヒーでした。夏の暑い日だったら、お客様は喜んでくれたかも知れませんが、11月のとても寒い日だったので彼は、きっと温かいコーヒーを飲みたかった事でしょう。

後で、私はそのコーヒーメーカーをもらった友達にその話をしたら、彼は説明してくれました。熱いコーヒーを作りたいなら、レバーを右に傾けなればなりません。左に傾ければアイスコーヒーになります。
それを間違っていた私はお客様にアイスコーヒーを出してしまったのです。熱いコーヒーしか飲まない私は、これから冷たいコーヒーも出来ると覚えていなければなりません。

信仰もそうです。熱い信仰も冷たい信仰もあります。すなわち熱心な信仰も冷淡な信仰もあります。
聖書は、クリスチャンに熱心な信仰を勧めています。

「霊に燃えなさい。」ローマ人への手紙12:11

テトスへの手紙2:14によると
「キリストが私たちのためにご自身をささげられたのは、私たちをすべての不法から贖い出し、良いわざに熱心なご自分の民を、ご自分のためにきよめるためでした。」

今、あなたの信仰のレバーはどちらに向いていますか。冷たい信仰ですか。熱い信仰ですか。

マタイの福音書24:12でキリストは言われました。
「不法がはびこるので、
　　　　多くの人たちの愛は冷たくなります。」

今、神と神の言葉と神の教会に対する愛は、まだ熱い愛ですか。その多くの人たちの一人にならない様に熱い信仰を保ちましょう。

　　　　

COLD COFFEE 

I decided to make some coffee for a guest who came to my home. I put water in a coffee maker that I had received from a friend, pushed the lever to the left and turned on the switch and waited. When the red button changed to green, I put the coffee in the cup and took it to my guest.

He took a drink of the coffee and said, It’s cold.” Surprised, I took a drink of my coffee. It was certainly cold. If it had been a hot day in the summer, my guest might have been pleased, but it was a very cold day in November, so I am certain he wanted some hot coffee.

Later I told my friend who had given me the coffee maker about the incident, so he explained.
“If you push the lever to the left, the coffee maker makes ice coffee, and if you push it to the right, it makes hot coffee.” I had forgotten about that, so I served cold coffee to my guest.

I drink only hot coffee, so from now on I must remember that there is hot coffee and cold coffee. It is the same with faith.
There is hot faith and cold faith. In other words, there is zealous faith and apathetic faith.

The Bible urges Christians to have zealous faith. Be fervent in spirit. (Romans 12:11) According to Titus 2:14, Christ gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

At the present time which way is the lever of your faith facing? Is it toward hot faith or cold faith? In Matthew 24:12 Jesus said,
Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Is your love toward God and His Word and His church still hot love? Lest we become one of the many, let’s maintain a hot faith.
