２つの時計

私は、とてもせっかちな性格です。
若い時と比べて、少し忍耐深くなりましたが、今でも私をすぐにイライラさせる事がいくつかあります。
一つは病院で長く待たされる事です。もう一つは渋滞です。
そして、更に私をせっかちにさせるのは遅れる時計です。

私は台所用に小さな時計を買いました。そんなに安い時計ではありません。しかし、その時計は、少しずつ遅れてきます。
そして、寝室にある時計も3分も遅れています。その遅れている時計を見る度にイライラします。
その時計は、時間を正確に示すため製造された物ですが、その目的を遂げていません。その時計に似ている人々も沢山います。

聖書によると、「主はすべてのものを、ご自分の目的のためにつくられた。」箴言16:4
神様は、特別な目的に従って太陽、月、星、海、植物と動物を造りました。主が人間を造った時も、御自分の目的のために造りました。

その目的とは何でしょうか。
「主よ。われらの神よ。あなたは、栄光と誉れと力とを受けるにふさわしい方です。あなたは万物を創造し、あなたのみこころのゆえに、万物は存在し、また創造されたのですから。」黙示録4:11

全ての人々は、神様の御心のゆえに神様に栄光を帰するために造られたとⅠコリント人への手紙10:31に書いてあります。
「あなたがたは、食べるにも、飲むにも、何をするにも、ただ神の栄光を表すためにしなさい。」

全ての人々は自分の人生に対する神様の御心をわきまえて、そして、その御心に従って神様に栄光を帰する生き方をするために造られました。
主に栄光を帰さない人生を送る人は遅れている時計の様なものです。

　　　　

TWO CLOCKS 

I have a very impatient personality. Compared to the time when I was younger, I have become a little more patient, but even now there are things that arouse my impatience. One of them is being made to wait a long time at a hospital. Another one is traffic jams. But the thing that especially arouses my impatience is a clock that runs slow.

I bought a small clock for the kitchen. It was not that cheap a clock. However, that clock has little by little begun to run slow. It is now three minutes behind the clock in my bedroom. Every time I look at that clock, I become irritated.

That clock was made for the purpose of showing the correct time, but it is not fulfilling its purpose. There are a lot of people similar to that clock. According to the Bible, The Lord has made all things for himself. (Proverbs 16:4) (In the Japanese Bible it says, The Lord hath made all things for his purpose.) Having a special purpose, God made the sun, the moon, the stars, the sea, plants and animals. When God made man too, He made him for His own purpose.

What is that purpose? Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
(Revelation 4:11) All people were created according to the will of God for the purpose of giving glory to God, so in First Corinthians 10:31 it is written, Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

All people were made for the purpose of finding God’s will for their lives, obeying that will, and living a life that gives glory to God. The person who lives a life that does not give glory to God is like a clock that runs slow.
