２人の大工

先週、私は小倉教会の新会堂を建てる大工に会いました。
私達が望んでいる通りの教会を建てる彼の計画を聞いた時、徐々にと興奮して、心が躍る思いでした。
なぜなら32年前に祈り始めた事が今年中に実現するからです。
8月頃から私達は50人が座れる新しい教会で神様を礼拝します。
ハレルヤ！

私を興奮させるもう一人の大工の言葉があります。
イエス・キリストの言葉です。聖書によると、イエスは大工の家に生まれました。

マタイの福音書13:54-55によると、
イエスは、郷里に行って、会堂で人々を教え始められた。すると、彼らは驚いて言った。「この人は、こんな知恵と不思議な力をどこで得たのでしょう。この人は大工の息子ではありませんか。」

イエスの母マリヤの夫ヨセフは大工でした。
当時の習慣によると、息子が12歳になった時から、父親は彼に自分の仕事を教え始めます。
だからイエスは12歳から30歳まで大工の仕事をしたと考えられます。

大工であったイエスはヨハネの福音書14:2で弟子達に言われました。
「わたしの父の家には、住まいがたくさんあります。もしなかったら、あなたがたに言っておいたでしょう。あなたがたのために、わたしは場所を備えに行くのです。」

復活の後、天国に帰られたイエスは今、御自分の一人ひとりの弟子の場所を備えておられます。その住まいを想像して見て下さい。天と地を創造されたイエスが建てる住まいとは、どれほど素晴らしいでしょうか。私達の想像を超えるほどの素晴らしい住まいです。

大工が建てる新会堂とイエスが私達のために建てる住まいには大きな違いが1つあります。
私達は教会を建てる大工に高額なお金を支払わなければなりません。
しかし、イエスが建てて下さる所に住むためには、十字架の上で私達のために死んで下さった救い主を信じる信仰だけが必要です。

　　　　

TWO CARPENTERS　

Last week I met the carpenter who is going to build the new auditorium for the Kokura church. As I listened to his plan to build the auditorium exactly as we desire, I became excited. My heart began to throb, for the thing that I began praying for 32 years ago will become a reality this year. From about August we shall worship the Lord in a new church that seats 50 people. Hallelujah!

The words of one other carpenter excite me. They are the words of Jesus Christ. According to the Bible, Jesus was born into the home of a carpenter.
According to Matthew 13:54-55, when Jesus was come into His own country,
he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence has this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son?

The husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a carpenter. According to the custom of those days, when a son reached the age of 12, his father would begin to teach him his craft, so we could think that from the age of 12 until the age of 30 Jesus did the work of a carpenter.

In John 14:2, Jesus the carpenter said to His disciples,
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Jesus, who returned to heaven after His resurrection, is now preparing a home in heaven for each one of His disciples. Imagine how wonderful will be a home built by Jesus who created the heavens and the earth. It will be a home that surpasses our imagination.

There is one big difference between the church that the carpenter will build and the home that Christ will build for us. We have to pay a lot of money to the carpenter who will build the church; however, in order to live in the house that Jesus will build for us, the only thing that is necessary is faith to believe in the Savior who died on the cross for us.
