ポケットの中のカ－ド

先日、教会の姉妹に赤ちゃんが生まれました。 次の日、全ての集会が終わってから、私は、お見舞いに行く予定でした。
「お祝いのカード」の中にお金を入れて、封筒に“Congratulations”と書いて、上着のポケットの中に入れました。
日曜日の集会は、遅くなったので、私が病院に着いた時、もうすでに５時過ぎでした。 しばらく赤ちゃんを抱きながら、姉妹と交わりました。
病院の食事は５時30分からです。
５時25分頃、看護士が来て「食事の時間です」と言われたので、急いで姉妹と祈って、そして帰りました。

家に帰って上着のポケットに入っている物を全部出しました。
すると、姉妹に渡すはずのカードが、ポケットの中に入れたままでした。 あわてて病院を出たので、姉妹にカードを手渡すのを忘れていました。
人にカードを渡すのを忘れる事はそんなに重要な事ではありません。なぜなら今度、姉妹に合った時、渡す事ができます。しかし、神様に喜ばれる事をしようとする時、それを忘れる事は大変な事になります。

ヤコブの手紙4:17に書いてあります。
「なすべき正しいことを知っていながら行わないなら、それはその人の罪です。」

私達が聖書や牧師の説教を通して何かを主のためにするように導かれた時、それを直ぐ実行しましょう。 例えば、毎日聖書を読む事、友達に福音を宣べ伝える事、バプテスマを受ける事、教会員になる事等です。 ずっとそれをするつもりでいたけど、まだそれを実行していない人はポケットの中にいれたままの「お祝いのカード」を忘れた私のような人です。
私達が主に約束した事を直ちに実行しましょう。

「みことばを実行する人になりなさい。自分を欺いて、ただ聞くだけの者であってはいけません。」ヤコブの手紙1:22

今日、心の中のポケットを見ましょう。もし、その中に私達が主のためにするつもりであったのに、まだしていない約束があれば、直ぐその約束を守りましょう。

　　　　　

THE CARD IN MY POCKET　

On the 22nd of this month one of the ladies of the church had a baby. After all of the services were finished on Sunday, I intended to visit her in the hospital, so I put some money into a card, wrote “Congratulations” on the envelope and put the card into my coat pocket.

The Sunday services ended quite late, so by the time I arrived at the hospital, it was already past 5:00. While holding the baby, I had fellowship with the mother for a while. About 5:25 a nurse came and said, “It’s time for supper,” so I hurriedly prayed with the mother and went home.

When I arrived home, I took everything out of my pockets. It was then that I saw the card that I had intended to give to her. I had left the hospital so hurriedly that I forgot to hand it to her.

Forgetting something as such as handing a card to a person is not that serious a thing because I can give it to her the next time I see her. However, intending to do something that will please the Lord and then forgetting to do it could lead to serious results, In James 4;17 it is written,
To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

When, through the Bible or the sermon of the pastor, we are led to do something for the Lord, let’s do it right away. For example, things like reading the Bible every day, preaching the gospel to a friend, getting baptized, or joining the church. A person who has been intending to do something like that for a long time but has not done it yet is resembles a person like me who forgot the card in his pocket.

When we have made a promise to the Lord, let’s do what we promised right away.
Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22)
Let’s look in the pocket of our heart today. If we find something that we have been intending to do for the Lord for a long time, let’s keep that promise soon.
