してはいけない質問

病院へ教会の姉妹を迎えに行った時、私はとても恥ずかしい経験をしました。
若い夫婦がエレベーターを待っていました。奥さんのおなかが大きかったので、私は言ってはいけない質問をしました。
私がまだ若い伝道者であった時、教えられました。女性が本当に妊娠しているかどうか確認するまで「予定日はいつですか？」と聞いてはいけません。
それをてっきり忘れていた私は若い奥さんに聞いてしまいました。
「予定日はいつですか？」彼女は答えました。「赤ちゃんは、もう生まれました。私はまだ太っているだけです」正直に言って、私はドラえもんの「どこでもドア」に入って消えたいと思いました。
とても恥ずかし思いをした私は彼女に何度も謝りました。
クリスチャンにもしてはいけない質問があります。

その質問は、ローマ人への手紙9:20-21に書いてあります。
しかし、人よ。神に言い逆らうあなたは、いったい何ですか。形造られた者が形造った者に対して、「あなたはなぜ、私をこのようなものにしたのですか。」と言えるでしょうか。 陶器を作る者は、同じ土のかたまりから、尊いことに用いる器でも、また、つまらないことに用いる器でも作る権利を持っていないのでしょうか。

イザヤ書64:8によると、
私達は粘土で神様は私達の陶器師です。 私達はみな、神様の手で作られたものです。

私達の人生のために特別な目的があった神様は私たちを造ってくださったのだから、クリスチャンは自分の顔や体や性格を軽蔑して、神様に「あなたはなぜ、私をこのようなものにしたのですか。」と質問してはいけません。

だから私たちは、聖歌の276番の一節の歌詞を主に言いましょう。
♪なしたまえながむね、すえつくり、わが主よ。
　われはただなが手の、うちにあるつちくれ。♪

　　　　 

THE QUESTION THAT SHOULD
NOT BE ASKED 

When I went to the hospital to pick up one of the church ladies, I had an embarrassing experience. A young couple was waiting for the elevator. The wife’s stomach was big, so I asked her the question that should not be asked. When I was still a young preacher, I was taught that you never ask a lady, “When is the due date?” until you have made certain that she is pregnant.

Forgetting that, I asked the wife, “When is the due date?” She replied, “The baby has already been born. It’s just that I am still fat.” Speaking honestly, I wanted to enter Doraemon’s [doko de mo doa] and disappear. Very embarrassed, I apologized to her several times.

There is also a question that Christians should not ask. It is a question to God. That question is written in Romans 9:20-21.
Nay but, O man, who are thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another to dishonour?

According to Isaiah 64:8, we are the clay and God is the potter. We are all the work of His hand. Having a special purpose for our life, God made our face, our body, and our personality. Therefore, the Christian should not ask God, Why hast thou made me thus? Instead, we should speak to God the words in the first verse of the hymn “Have Thine Own Way, Lord.”

♪Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
　Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
　Mold me and make me, after Thy will
　While I am waiting, yielded and still.♪
