自分を救うことができなかった救い主

5月に教会の3名が誕生日だったので、先週一人の姉妹がとってもおいしい誕生ケーキを作ってくださいました。
ケーキのアイシングはチョコレートで、中身の色はピンクや緑や青など鮮やかだったので、そのケーキは「レインボー・ケーキ」と呼ばれました。
一人を除いて、他の人はケーキを食べました。その一人はケーキを作った本人でした。彼女はグルテンが入っている物を食べる事ができません。他の姉妹が彼女に言いました。
「残念ですね。自分で作ったケーキを食べる事ができないなんて」その姉妹の言葉を聞いた時、
私はマタイの福音書27:42に書いてある言葉を思い出しました。
十字架につけられたキリストに彼の敵が言ったあざけりの言葉です。
「彼は他人を救ったが、自分は救えない。」
彼らはキリストが自分を救う事ができないと思いましたが、本当は、キリストは自分を救う事ができました。キリストが逮捕された時、一人の弟子は剣でキリストを守ろうとしました。

しかし、キリストは彼に言われました。
「剣をもとに納めなさい剣を取る者はみな剣で滅びます。 それとも、わたしが父にお願いして、十二軍団よりも多くの御使いを、今わたしの配下に置いていただくことができないとでも思うのですか。」マタイの福音書26:52-53

自分を救う事ができたキリストはわざとそうしませんでした。 なぜでしょうか。 私達を救うためでした。
「キリストも一度罪のために死なれました。正しい方が悪い人々の身代わりとなったのです。それは、肉においては死に渡され、霊においては生かされて、私たちを神のみもとに導くためでした。」Ⅰペテロの手紙3:18

キリストは自分を救いませんでした。彼を信じる人々は自分の罪の罰から救われます。キリストは
「自分から十字架の上で、私たちの罪をその身に負われました。それは、私たちが罪を離れ、義のために生きるためです。キリストの打ち傷のゆえに、あなたがたは、いやされたのです。」Ⅰペテロの手紙2:24

　　　　

THE SAVIOR WHO COULD
　　　　　　　NOT SAVE HIMSELF

Three people at the church had birthdays in May, so last week one of the ladies made a very delicious birthday cake. The icing was chocolate, and the color of the cake was green and pink, so it was called a “Rainbow Cake.”

Except for one person, everyone ate some cake. That one person was the lady who made the cake. She cannot eat anything that has gluten in it. One of the ladies said to her, “It’s too bad. You can’t eat your own cake.”

As soon as I heard her words, I remembered these words in Matthew 27:42. They are words of mockery that the enemies of Christ said to Him when He was on the cross. He saved others; Himself He cannot save.

They thought that Christ could not save Himself. But actually Christ could have saved Himself. When Christ was arrested, one of his disciples tried to defend Him with a sword. Christ said to him,
Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? (Matthew 26:52-53)

Christ, who could have saved Himself, deliberately did not do so. Why? To save us.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
(First Peter 3:18)

Because Christ did not save Himself, those who believe in Him are saved from the penalty of their sins.
Christ bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. (First Peter 2:24)
