29人のクリスチャンの勇気のある信仰

5月26日にエジプトで大変な事件が起きました。
イスラム教の急進派(IS)の10人の兵隊は、修道院に向かうバスを停めました。
兵隊はそのバスに乗っていた29人のクリスチャンを降ろしました。
一人ひとりが降りた時、兵隊は聞きました。
「あなたがたは、クリスチャンですか？」
「はい」と答えると、
兵隊は「あなたは、キリストを否定して、イスラム教の信仰を告白しますか？」
29人は全員（子供含む）キリストを否定する事を拒みました。
兵隊は一人ひとりを頭か喉を銃で撃って殺しました。

この記事を読んだ時、自分の信仰を考えさせられました。私がもしそのバスに乗っていたら、自分が殺されると知りながら、彼等のような勇気のある信仰を持つ事ができたでしょうか。

神様のために熱心に伝道したパウロとバルナバの信仰もそのような勇気のある信仰でした。
「バルナバとパウロ、私たちの主イエス·キリストの御名のために、いのちを投げ出した人たちです。」
使徒の働き15:26
私達の信仰はどうでしょうか。私達の信仰はキリストの御名のために命を投げ出してもよい信仰ですか。あるいは家族や友達の前で告白できない臆病な信仰ですか。

パウロの友達は彼に警告しました。
「もし、エルサレムに行けば、殺されるよ」
パウロの返事は使徒の働き21:13に書いてあります。
「私、主イエスの御名のためなら、エルサレムで縛られることばかりでなく、死ぬことさえも覚悟しています。」

わしたちの信仰はキリストの御名のために死ぬ事さえも覚悟している勇気のある信仰でしょうか。

　　　　

THE COURAGEOUS FAITH OF
29 CHRISTIANS 

On the 26th of last month there was a terrible incident in Egypt. Ten Islamic radical militants stopped a bus on its way to a monastery. They forced 29 Christians off the bus.

As they got off the bus one by one, they were asked, “Are you a Christian?” When they replied, “Yes,” the soldiers said, “Will you deny Christ and profess belief in Islam?” All 29 of them, including children, refused to deny their faith in Christ. Each of them was killed with a gunshot to the head or throat.

When I read this article, I thought about my own faith. If I had been on that bus, knowing that I would be killed, would I have been able to have the kind of courageous faith that they had?

The faith of Paul and Barnabas who evangelized zealously for the Lord was that kind of courageous faith. They were men that hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Acts 15:26)

How about the faith of us at Kokura BBC? Is our faith the kind of faith that would hazard our lives for the name of the Lord Jesus, or is our faith a cowardly faith that we cannot confess before our family and friends?

The friends of Paul warned him,
“If you go to Jerusalem, you will be killed.”
Paul’s reply is written in Acts 21:13.
I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Is our faith courageous faith that is ready to die for the name of Christ?
