59年ぶりの青年会

私が17歳の時、家族はバージニア州からフロリダ州に引越をしました。
少年の時代からの友達とは離れ離れになり、とても寂しかった。
しかし、フロリダで最初の友達は全て熱心なクリスチャンでした。

私達は、日曜日の朝と夜、また水曜日の夜に友達と一緒に教会に行きました。
その頃の最も印象的な集会は、金曜日夜の青年会でした。
賛美と牧師のメッセージの後、私達は、一緒に食事（ファースト・フード）や遊び（ボーリングやミニ・ゴルフ）などに行って楽しみました。

先週、私達は59年ぶりに集まりました。交わりと持ち寄りの食事の後、私達はピアノの周りに集まって牧師の奏楽で59年前のコーラスで合唱しました。
とてもすばらしい「青年会」でした。

驚く事に、私達の中の10名は献身して神学校に行って、フルタイムの伝道者となりました。この驚べき事実は、二つの事の結果でした。
まず、牧師のすばらしい模範がありました。牧師と奥さんは、とてもに忙しかったけど、彼等は良く私達と一緒に時を過ごして、とても良い模範を示してくれました。
第２に私達は、熱心に主の御心を求めたので、伝道者になる様に導かれて、素直にその導きに従う事ができました。

信仰から離れないクリスチャンになるために、私達は、素晴らしい模範と主の導きに従う心が必要です。すばらしい模範がおられます。
「キリストも、あなたがたのために苦しみを受け、その足跡に従うようにと、あなたがたに模範を残されました。」Ⅰペテロの手紙2:21
この模範を見ながら、主の導きに素直に従いましょう。

　　　 

YOUTH MEETING … 59 YEARS LATER

When I was 17 years old, my family moved from Virginia to Florida. I was not happy about having to leave my lifelong friends; however, the first friends I made in Florida were zealous Christians.

We went to church together Sunday morning and evening and also on Wednesday evening. However, the service that impacted me the most was the Friday evening youth meeting. After the songs and the pastor’s message, we went out to eat (fast food) or play (bowling or Putt-Putt).

Last week that youth group gathered for the first time in 59 years. After fellowship and a pot-luck meal, we gathered around the piano and sang some of the choruses from 59 years ago as our pastor played the piano. It was a wonderful “youth” meeting.

Amazingly, 10 young people out of that group surrendered their lives to the Lord, went to Bible College, and became full-time workers for the Lord. This amazing fact was the result of two things.

First, we had the wonderful example of our pastor. Although he and his wife were quite busy, they spent time with us and showed us a wonderful example.

Second, we zealously sought the will of the Lord, so when we were led to become full-time workers for the Lord, we were able to follow that leadership obediently.

To become a Christian who will not depart from the faith, we need a wonderful example and a heart that will obey the will of the Lord. We have a wonderful example.
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.

Looking at the example of Christ, let’s follow His leadership obediently.
