熱い！

今年は、猛暑ですね。気温が30℃を超える日が続いています。
先週の日曜日は日本の662ヶ所で気温が30℃を超えました。気温が40℃を超える地域もありました。
高い気温と高い湿気が民衆の精気を奪い取ります。

こんなに暑くなると、熱さについてのおもしろいジョークがあります。例えば
◆「とても暑いので鶏はゆでタマゴを産んでいます」
◆「とても暑いので店でパンを買えば、家に帰るとトーストになっています」
◆「とても暑いので木は犬を呼んでいます」
◆「とても暑いのでジャガイモは地面の中で焼けて、料理する必要がありません」

不思議な事ですが、HOT（熱い）と言う言葉は、英語の聖書に30回も出ているのに、日本語の聖書には３回だけです。

詩篇120:2-4「主よ。私を偽りのくちびる、欺きの舌から、救い出してください。 欺きの舌よ。おまえに何が与えられ、おまえに何が加えられるのか。 勇士の鋭い矢、それに、えにしだの熱い炭火だ。」

箴言6:27-28「人は火をふところにかき込んで、その着物が焼けないだろうか。 また人が、熱い火を踏んで、その足が焼けないだろうか。」

黙示録3:15-16「わたしは、あなたの行ないを知っている。あなたは、冷たくもなく、熱くもない。わたしはむしろ、あなたが冷たいか、熱いかであってほしい。 このように、あなたはなまぬるく、熱くも冷たくもないので、わたしの口からあなたを吐き出そう。」

エアコン・扇風機や冷たい飲物などで体を冷やしている間に、心が冷たくならないように気を付けましょう。

「勤勉で怠らず、霊に燃え、主に仕えなさい。」

HOT !　

This summer is an extremely hot summer. Day after day, the temperature is over 30. Last Sunday the temperature was over 30 in 662 places. It was over 40 in other places. The high temperatures and high humidity sap the energy of everyone.

When the weather gets this hot, we can hear amusing jokes about the heat. For example,
◆It is so hot the hens are laying boiled eggs.
◆It is so hot that if we buy bread at the store, it is toast by the time we return home.
◆It is so hot the trees are calling the dogs.
◆It is so hot that potatoes bake in the ground, so you do not have to cook them.

It is a strange that the word HOT appears in the English Bible 30 times but the word ATSUI appears only 3 times in the Japanese Bible.

“Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? Or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals (atsui) of juniper.” (Psalm 120:2-4)

“Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? (Proverbs 6:27-28)

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
(Revelation 3:15-16)

While we are trying to cool our bodies with air conditioners, fans, and cold drinks, let’s be careful that our heart does not become cold.

“Not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.”
(Romans 12:11)
