海中のボ－ル

ある日、海岸を歩いていた時、私は海中に浮いているボールを見つけました。
ボールがあった所はそんなに深くなかったので、海に入ってボールを取り、家に持って帰って、机の側に置きました。

そのボールを見ていて、私はいろんな事を想像します。
例えば、誰のボールだったのか？　
もしかして、子供のボールだったかも知れません。
ボールが海に入ってしまったのはどんな状況だったのか？
また、自分のボールが取り戻せない所まで飛んだ時、子供は泣いたかもしれません。

また、私は役目を果たす事ができなくなったそのボールをよく想像します。
そのボールは子供を楽しませるために、あるいは若者達の野球の試合のために作られたかも知れません。
しかし、ボールが海に落ちてしまった瞬間に、その役目を果たす事ができない物になりました。

私がよく考えるもう一つの事は、海の中にあったボールがどれほど人間に似ているかと言う事です。聖書によると人間は、神様に栄光を帰するために創られました。

イザヤ書43:7で神様はおっしゃいました。
「わたしの名で呼ばれるすべての者は、わたしの栄光のために、わたしがこれを創造し、これを形造り、これを造った。」

また、黙示録4:11によると、人間は神様を喜ばせるために創られました。
「主よ。われらの神よ。あなたは、栄光と誉れと力とを受けるにふさわしい方です。あなたは万物を創造し、あなたのみこころゆえに、万物は存在し、また創造されたのですから。」
英語の聖書に「あなたのみこころゆえに」の代わりに「for your pleasure」と書いてあります。

もし、私たちの人生が神様に栄光を与えない人生、または神様を喜ばせない人生であれば、私たちは海中のボールと同じようなものです。

　　　 

THE BALL IN THE OCEAN　

One day when I was walking on the beach, I saw a ball in the ocean. It was not very deep where the ball was, so I waded into the ocean and picked up the ball. I took it home and placed it near my desk.

Every time I look at that ball, I think about various things. For example, whose ball was it? Maybe it belonged to a child. What were the circumstances when the ball went into the ocean? When the ball flew to a place where it could not be retrieved, did the child cry?

Also, I think about the fact that the ball is no longer able to fulfill its purpose. Maybe the ball was made to bring joy to a child or to be used in a baseball game for young men. However, the instant the ball went into the ocean, it became something that was no longer able to fulfill its purpose.

Another thing that I think about is how much that ball resembles man. According to the Bible, man was created to give glory to God.
In Isaiah 43:7 God said,
Even every one that is called by my name: For I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Also, according to Revelation 4:11, man was created to give pleasure to God.
Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for they pleasure they are and were created.

If our life is a life that does not give glory to God or a life that is not pleasing to the Lord, we are like the ball in the ocean.
