猿が出て来なかった

先日、私は小倉教会の特別集会の講師であったガードナー先生を別府に連れていきました。
彼を高崎山（多くの猿が住んでいる山）・うみたまご（水族館）・地獄めぐりに連れていくつもりでしたが、高崎山の駐車場に着いた時、係員に「今日は、まだ猿が出て来ていないので先にうみたまごに行ってください」と言われました。

私たちは、うみたまごと言う素晴らしい水族館に行って、それから猿が出て来ているかどうか見に行きました。
残念なことに猿は、まだ一匹も出て来ていませんでした。
しばらく待ちましたが猿は、やはり出て来なかったので、あきらめて地獄めぐりに行きました。
私は、特にガードナー先生に猿が多く住んでいる高崎山を見て欲しかったのですが、とても残念でした。

時々クリスチャンは、神様に祈るとき同じような経験に遭います。私たちは、神様がすぐに祈りに応えてくださる事を期待するが、しばらく待っても神様は、応えてくださいません。
しかし、出て来なかった猿と違って神様は、必ず祈りに応えてくださるので、あきらめずに、主を待ち望みましょう。
「待ち望め。主を。雄々しくあれ。心を強くせよ。待ち望め。主を。」詩篇27:14

私は、今まで何度も高崎山に行って猿が出て来ない事は一度もありませんでした。
今回、猿は私をとてもガッカリさせましたが、しかし主は決して私たちを失望させません。
「主を待ち望む者は新しく力を得、鷲のように翼をかって上ることができる。走ってもたゆまず、歩いても疲れない。」イザヤ書40:31

マタイの福音書7:7に
「求めなさい。そうすれば与えられます。」とあります。

　　　  

THE MONKEYS DID NOT COME OUT

Last Monday I took Missionary Dan Gardner, the speaker at the special services of the Kokura church, to Beppu. We intended to go to Mount Takasaki (a mountain where many monkeys live), Umitamago (an aquarium), and Hell (a place where there are many hot springs); however, when we arrived at the Mount Takasaki parking lot, we were told that no monkeys had come out yet, so we should go to Umitamago first.

After we went to Umitamago, we went to see if any monkeys had come out yet. Unfortunately, not one monkey had come out. We waited a while, but the monkeys did not come out, so we gave up and went on to Hell. I had especially wanted Brother Gardner to see all the monkeys on Mount Takasaki, so I was greatly disappointed.

Sometimes, when Christians pray to God, they have the same experience. We expect God to answer our prayers soon, but even if we wait a while, He does not answer. However, different from the monkeys who did not come out, God will without fail answer our prayers, so let us not give up but wait on the Lord.
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! (Psalm 27:14)

I have been to Mount Takasaki many times before, and the monkeys always came out, but this time they disappointed me. However, the Lord will never disappoint us.
But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

As it says in Matthew 7:7,
Ask and it will be given to you.
The Lord will surely answer, so let us wait on Him and continue to pray.
