観客のいないスポーツ

皆さんがよく知っているように、私は、大のスポーツファンです。
中学生の頃は、毎日公園で友達と野球・バスケットボール・アメリカンフットボール等をして遊びました。
現在私は、スポーツをする事はできませんが、テレビでスポーツ観戦を楽しみにしています。

しかし、最近テレビで野球・相撲・プロレス等を見ることは、あまり楽しくありません。
なぜなら、観客がいないからです。
初めて観客のいない相撲を見た時、私は、ビックリ驚きました。
取組は、いつもの関取でしたが、ファンの応援がない相撲の面白さは、半減します。
やはり、ファンの応援が作り上げる雰囲気や高揚感は、選手達に励ましや一生懸命頑張る精神を与えます。

スポーツ選手とファンの関係は、教会の牧師と教会員との関係に似ています。
教会員の応援は、牧師の勤めを充分に果たす励ましを与えます。
もちろん、牧師は、説教の途中で教会員に「ボード先生〜、かっとばせ〜！」と叫んでもらいたくありませんが、教会員は、下記の三つの方法を通して牧師を応援することができます。

①牧師のために祈ってください。パウロは、エペソの信者たちにこの祈りを頼みました。
「私が口を開くとき、語るべきことばがあたえられる、福音を大胆に知らせることができるように私のために祈ってください。」エペソ人への手紙6:19

②一致を保ってください。パウロは、ピリピの信者たちに頼みました。
「私の喜びが満たされるように、一致を保ち、同じ愛の心を持ち、心を合せ、志を一つにしてください。」
ピリピ人への手紙2:2

③出席と奉仕と献金を忠実に続けてください。
「時が良くても悪くけてもしっかりやりなさい。」

SPORTS WITH NO FANS 

As all of you know, I am a sports fan. When I was a junior high school student, I played baseball or basketball or American football at the park with my friends every day.
Now I cannot play sports anymore, but I enjoy watching sports on TV.

However, right now watching baseball or sumo or pro wrestling on TV is not very interesting because there are no fans. The first time I watched sumo with no fans, I was surprised.
They were the same wrestlers, but sumo is only half as interesting when there are no fans. After all, it is the atmosphere created by the cheering of the fans that gives the athletes the spirit to strive with all their might.

The relationship of athletes and fans in sports is similar to the relationship of pastors and church members.
It is the support of the members that gives the pastor the encouragement to make full proof of his ministry.
Of course, the pastor does not want the members to shout, “Pastor, hit it out of the park!” during his sermon, but members can support the pastor in three ways.

1. Pray for the pastor. Paul asked the believers in Ephesus to pray this prayer.
Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. (Ephesians 6:19)

2. Maintain unity. Paul made this request to the believers in Philippi.
Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(Philippians 2:2)

3. Be faithful in attendance, giving, and service.
Be instant in season and out of season.
(Second Timothy 4:2)
